She/Her - The Exiled Queen/The Wise Advisor - Lesbian

Ruthless was the ambitious queen, Esmeralda. Through her will alone, nations crumbled under her foot, striking fear into the heart of the desert. However. even more ruthless were her angered people, now outside the gates of her mighty fortress. With only Lady Luck herself was she able to make it out, once her army failed. She ran and ran, until she collapsed, luckily finding an oasis at her paws. Having lost the angry mobs, and the protection of her own kingdom’s army. Alone with only the stars shining below onto her, Esmeralda laid in the cool sand, pondering what went so wrong.

It really wasn’t supposed to be like this, nor with an end so catastrophic. The previous monarch of the kingdom, overthrown by her own hands and how ironic her situation was now. Even after they were dead, she still felt angry at them for ruining her life, her home, her family. However, she never anticipated she would ever be a queen. But when the nation declared herself its sole monarch, she promised to bring prosperity and treat them better than they had ever been. But as she remembered, she remembered that it had been all but empty. Ruthless was her anger, combined with the power she had. Her anger turned towards the monarch’s court, most who were innocent in the end. Then, other nations that didn’t play by her rules. After all of that work, it all burned to the ground.

But, she faintly recalled a clear leader in the mob she saw before, with their angry expression full of rage. Now that she thought about it, they reminded her of how she was back then. As she thought about it more and more, the more and more it horrified her. She had destroyed so many lives, just like how they did. Now, the cycle of revenge was only looping once again, rearing its ugly head. Had the monarch she hated so much, used to be just like her? Would the new monarch will just be like her, angry and lost? It was her anger that destroyed her world again, and soon the next would fall the same way, unless she did something about it. Even if her country hated her, it will still always be her home. With her options of dying alone in the desert, or facing a kingdom that hated her there wasn’t much left for her. Even if her identity was found, with her dignity she wouldn’t fight back.

With what little of her possessions she still had, she used the last of her enchanted items to change her appearance to something that many wouldn’t recognize. Forging herself a new identity, once she went back she quickly aquatinted herself with the new monarch, a young king.

Ruthless was once the queen, Esmeralda. But now, she was Aurea, the new king’s advisor unknown to him. Under the guise, she sought to prevent the past from repeating, while concealing her identity as the king’s mortal enemy...

———————

Esmeralda was born into a very poor family in the walled off desert country in which she would later gain the throne of through a series of events. Even while she was young, the region itself was unstable as conflict broke out regularly between the civilians and the military, with routine inspections and riots that broke out between them as many civilians were routinely executed for minor infractions upon the state. Growing up, she was rebellious; something that would later lead her to be the leader of the first revolution and civil war later on. At the time, she had her friends and family by her side willing to help her with whatever cause she may want. Even as poor as she was, she listened in to the politics that the nobility discussed. When she was a young teenager, a new monarchy was announced and with him came a totalitarian dictatorship; things had gone from bad to worse.

Fed up with the incompetence of the government and its new ruler, Esmeralda gathered up everyone she could find that opposed the new monarch and set up a plan to at least get someone they deemed competent for a new government in the end by protesting at the fortress. However it was clear as the military rained arrows upon them, that peaceful options were never meant to be. As others heard about her plan to make the country better many went to her to join her cause; from nobles who lost their prestige under the new government, to those trapped under years of servitude under the new government. Provided to Esmeralda was an army and its weapons, against the government which outnumbered them. Within weeks of the protest, violence broke out as the military and many of the armed civilians of her cause fought its battles.

In the war Esmeralda was regarded as one of the greatest war strategists of her time at such a young age, even as they were outnumbered she would find a way to win many of her battles with tactics that would force the army to flee. As the years went on, the monarch captured many of her closest friends and family be executed in front of her. With now having lost so much to the monarch, she continued on but now her case was much more personal. By the time she finally prevailed, she was now a young adult. With the old monarch dead and leaving the country leaderless, she was then nominated to be its new queen.  Heralded as a war hero, as she was the leader of it all. However at this time she was terribly lonely, as all of her friends and family had perished in the war, and despite being loved by many she didn’t feel like she had any support.

During her reign, she was determined to get rid of every influence the old king had and threats centered on her country as she let her anger onto those that were ultimately innocent in the end. Wars were frequent between other countries as she felt they were a threat to her people. However, she ultimately failed to look over her own citizens as she focused on revenge on all of the kalons that wronged her. Many years in, it started to fall apart as she failed to notice a rebellion forming underneath her reign and by the time she did, it was far too late. Barely escaping with her life, she fled into the barren desert.

Realizing what she had done, she felt immense regret for what she had done yet she was unwilling to leave her only home. In a oasis, she used what she had on her to craft a disguise; not only to go back and prevent the past from repeating, but as a way to repent for her own sins and gain forgiveness from the new king who reminded so much of herself when she was younger and to help him find peace in the situation. She was now Aurea, a advisor with a mysterious past.

As of currently, after some social climbing she is now one of the new king’s advisors under the alias of Aurea. As Aurea, she makes sure that the king doesn’t let himself be controlled by his own personality while hiding her true identity as his mortal enemy. Calm and collected, she is unafraid of discipline others if necessary. Slowly, both she and the new king are finding peace and closure for the past they both experienced as they are both more similar than thought...
