Nathan’s Background
Doll making has been a long line of tradition in Nathan's family, and Nathan’s father makes ball jointed dolls from bisque. His father also gives souls to dolls, but it's not through kisses. People along his family tree have different ways of giving life to dolls, as an example, putting their hair inside the middle of a doll to substitute a heart. In Nathan’s father's case, he produces a shining pearl from his palm, and if he "feeds" it to a doll then it goes into the center of the doll as their own soul. At the time, Nathan couldn't give life through any of those means, so his parents wondered if the tradition of giving life to dolls was lost, and if Nathan will never be able to make sentient dolls on his own.
Despite everything, they still loved Nathan for the shy and loving boy he is. Albeit being sort of disappointed about not being able to carry on the tradition, he still liked sewing and helping his parents to repair dolls, so much that he specialises in making hand sewn fabric dolls. Nathan’s mother crochet dolls, and gives life to the dolls through her tears. Once her tears touch the doll, they start moving to hand her a handkerchief, or a tissue, for she is an incredibly beautiful lady.. The dolls just felt a need to wipe her tears away.
Though not often, his family keeps a few dolls in their house to help with chores, or just for companionship, as they have a large house.
