At  the back of Fall River Stables, there was a wing of reinforced stalls  covered in mesh and heavy black fabric to hide the conditions of the  savaged pit fighting stallions. Once the establishment was formally shut  down, it became synonymous with death row with the studs too damaged  both physically and psychologically to be saved. The vet walked down the  line with a shotgun, the process becoming almost automatic when he  reaches a stall more heavily padded than the rest. Rochester was in  better condition than most, which was only a testament as to how  terrible the horses had been allowed to get before someone intervened.  Moon Blindness caused him to compulsively rub his head against the rough  walls until his eye ruptured, a pearly black liquid staining his white  cheek when they discovered him.

Once recovered, his true  personality began to shine through: a disproportionately large ego for a  ballator from such terrible conditions. While he is arrogant to a  fault, he is simultaneously the most sensitive thing to ever survive  such an ordeal. Despite being overbred by his precious owners for his  coat, Rochester has still come to prefer human company to that of other  ballators. He likes quiet humans that move slowly, especially with his  reduced vision even in his remaining eye. If with his favourite people,  he can even be ridden and shows some potential for dressage. He has a  bizarre understanding that in order to make friends, others must think  he is better than them. As a result, he is very proud, and very, very  lonely.
