Simon

The only other resident of the lost City of Olam,  the poor professor resides in the lowest level of the Cathedral's hidden Vault. He writes nonsensical words in a language he cannot recall.  Anyone who laid eyes on him could tell he had been afflicted with a most powerful curse, or...Perhaps, a god's blessings...?

Simon was once a descendant of those who once lived within the City, Simon began a timid scholar of Olam's court. During one of his several excursions into the fallen city, he excavated the remains of an old, ancient being, and, at the King's behest, began frightful experiments that eventually lead to the fall.

Although Simon attempted to repair his mistakes, in the end, he became another victim of the King's ravenous thirst for knowledge. 

Simon was all-around timid, feeble, and unremarkable, and possessing a frailty that only exacerbated after the Exodus. Oddly enough, this slowly drew him the affections of a cold, staunchly knight.
