Leonik is a caring but curious boy hailing from Sparrowing Forest, and a Hero of Cycle I. He is very timid and cautious at first, but underneath, he is a brave and passionate individual. He is very investigative, especially if he knows secrets are being kept. His curiosity may sometimes get the better of him, against his better judgment. He is the younger brother of Lancel Curaisen.

Leonik and Lancel's parents died when Leonik was still very young in a battle against one of Death's dragons. This left Lancel to raise his younger brother on his own. Despite poverty and illness, the two somehow managed to carry on, albeit with some help from Zoriana. During their childhood, the Curaisen brothers spent a lot of time together. Lancel taught Leonik everything he could about the uses of various weapons. He also had a shopkeeper fix up their father's old armor suit to fit Leonik's slender form, going as far as to leave a space to embed his Emerald linkstone. Lancel loved his brother, and knew the role he would have to play in the battles to come, although these facts were initially kept from young Leonik for his own protection. Lancel often left Sparrowing Forest for Lurian City in order to speak with Zoriana and shop at the markets. Due to Leonik's various illnesses and weak immune system, medicine was a major necessity during these trips.
