The Sunlight Automatons functioned on slivers of the Solar Core, the mystical relic that ran the city of Olam.
Olam’s automatons were works of art, but they quickly developed keen minds that questioned their existence. When the solar core overloaded, their creators having fled or murdered one another, they were left to their devices. For a time, they were content to continue their roles as servants and builders, but eventually realized the futility in building a city with no citizens. One automaton, Enoidr, found new purpose in the form of a discarded infant.
The Gatekeeper possesses a helmet that can sway their thoughts, though simply asking nicely tends to work as well. The automatons, are otherwise free to do as they please, so long as they avoid leaving the city and entering the Vault.
