About
Emer may be small, but they are spunky and not afraid to go up against anyone, no matter how big they may seem. They absolutely love learning and altering spells, and would gladly spend all of their time sitting in one spot for the rest of their life doing so if they could. Despite their extensive knowledge, Emer is naive of the ways of the world outside the library, like a fish out of water.

Emer's life has always involved the Great Library of Oghmah, since they first poked their head out of their egg. They were one of several pseudodragons that were hatched within its walls, born to serve the Library and its master, the Great Dragon Oghmah. The Library is one of the grandest assortments of knowledge, of all kinds, that exists in the universe, and Emer is one of many beings that serve it. Its shelves are seemingly infinite, with walls and floors that don't appear to have an end in sight, if you are not one of the souls that reside there.
While some of their many siblings were tasked with adventuring out to bring back new knowledge, Emer had been given the task of maintaining the shelves as a Keeper. Despite the less "exciting" lifestyle, Emer has always loved what they do, absorbing all of the limitless knowledge at their fingertips. Their placement also means it is easier for them to learn from the Oghmah and experiment with the runes their mind is so obsessed with.
Life may be perfect for them, but that doesn't mean that there isn't a small part of Emer that is curious about the world outside the walls of their precious Library and the pages they read...
Well, they eventually got to satiate that curiosity when one day, a stranger finds their way into the Library, long after its doors had been closed off. Emer heard this stranger rifling through the shelves and took it upon themselves to handle the situation. This didn’t go as planned, though, and the stranger stole one of the books and escaped out the way they came in. Emer, not thinking ahead at the time, dove out after them, intent on reclaiming that was taken. They almost immediately lost sight of the stranger and the gateway back home, stranded in the ruins of what probably used to be a lovely town. Since then, Emer’s been trying to follow the trail of the stranger and find a way home…
Trivia
- Their actual form is a pseudodragon, meaning their humanoid appearance is just a polymorphing trick they put on themselves. Even though it is a spell to make them look how they want, Emer's humanoid form is short, measuring in at 4' 10". They are trying to figure out a work around to make themselves taller, to no avail.
- Emer was chosen to serve as a Keeper for the Great Library of Oghmah before they were born. They had no arguments against this, since it gave them more access to whatever books they want, when they want them.
- Their magic studies and experiments focus mostly on runes and how to modify them for both unique outcomes and widespread use. Emer feels drawn to magic and runes for some reason, and they will do everything they can to understand why they feel this way as they work to make them more efficient and tailored to specific purposes.
- For as long as they can remember, Emer has always had incredibly vivid dreams of things that have never happened to them before. They think it has to do with the excessive amount of stories they have read in through in their lifetime, especially the one about the explorers. It simply must be their mind and imagination replaying the highlights of their favorite books, right?
- There is a stinger at the end of Emer's tail that excretes venom when they are threatened. Emer doesn't use it a lot, treating it as a last resort. They prefer to start off any fight with magic and their fists, not that their fists have much power behind them.
Relationships
The Oghmah [ mentor ]
The Oghmah is an ancient stellar dragon that owns the Library Emer works in. Having controlled it for the entire duration it has been around, he has knowledge of anything and everything, which he has begun to teach to Emer. They admire the older dragon greatly and do everything they can to get on his good side. The two are good friends, and Emer would trust the Oghmah with anything they may come across.
The Finders [ siblings ]
Emer has many other pseudodragon siblings that are constantly travelling in and out of the Library in search of knowledge that has not yet reached its archives. Due to the nature of their work, Emer is not as close to many of them as they could have been, but they do still care about them all as a whole since they are still family.
The Keepers [ siblings ]
Emer has many other pseudodragon siblings that live amongst the books with them, and they often will spend time with the others. They all get along as amicable siblings do, with relatively good times to be had and small fights that have no real venom to them. Emer loves all the other Keepers and does not hesitate to seek one out whenever they need a hand with their magical research.
Imani [ stranger ]
Since their first meeting, Imani has been friendly to Emer, though he seems to find their lack of current knowledge about the world to be a bit strange.
Daniel [ stranger ]
Daniel has been fairly kind to Emer, despite not knowing anything about them. Emer is grateful for his assistance in steering them to safety. If only he would pronounce the Oghmah's name correctly...
Sigrun [ stranger ]
Sigrun is the first robot Emer has ever seen in person. Even though they have only known each other for a little bit, Emer finds her prescence comforting and has given their trust to her easily. Sigrun also seems to have an interest in magic, and Emer isn't one to say no to ranting about any and all things magical.
