Nyarlathotep is a unique figure among the other Outer Gods, as his emotional nature sets him apart from their typically amoral and emotionless demeanour. In contrast, Nyarlathotep is human-like in his emotions. However, his emotional makeup is far from admirable, as he delights in committing acts of extreme cruelty and violence.

Despite his sadistic tendencies, Nyarlathotep has no interest in bringing about humanity's downfall. Instead, he views death as a merciful release and an easy escape. His true pleasure lies in driving humans to the brink of insanity, manipulating them for his own amusement or to advance his own goals.

Nyarlathotep poses a significant threat due to his cosmic abilities and talent for blending in with society. He is a key figure in the ultimate destruction of the world. However, his fascination with humanity's own cruelty towards themselves may offer a glimmer of hope. If he ever becomes bored with his playthings, destruction is certain to follow.

Murry Chant

Nyarlathotep takes on various avatars, each with a different personality. Currently, his preferred avatar is a bartender named Murry, who goes by the nickname 'Mer/Mur'. Although he cannot leave the Dollhouse premises, he still manages to spread chaos.

As Murry, he appears to be an old-fashioned gentleman, addressing his customers by their last names unless he is upset or needs to emphasize a particular topic. He is skilled in small talk and can read his customers well. If any of his regulars exhibit unusual behaviour, he may express concern, although this is simply a guise. He genuinely cares for only a few rare individuals and only offers helpful advice to those he favours.

Despite his unusually wide smile, which can be unsettling to some, Murry's regulars have grown accustomed to it. He rarely loses his temper, even when scolding rulebreakers. However, those who provoke him will quickly realize their mistake. Murry's facade will slip, and his words will be carefully chosen to inflict harm if the situation escalates to physical violence. Those who have fought with him attest to his remarkable strength and speed, as he can easily knock out a 300-pound man with a single blow. If you show respect to Murry and his bar, he will reciprocate that respect.

Ambrosia Dexter

There is a female avatar of Nyarlathotep, similar to Murry, who is confined to the Dollhouse. This shows that the Outer God is capable of functioning in different avatars. Mur and Ambrosia can both be present at the same time. Those who visit the bar regularly will see Ambrosia completing odd jobs. She claims to be a twin of Mer and primarily handles administrative work.

Ambrosia's primary role as an avatar is to gain the trust of individuals who may not feel comfortable interacting with a more masculine figure. Additionally, Nyarlathotep may benefit from flirting with individuals who are attracted to female-presenting individuals. Ambrosia is more bold and willing to confront patrons who misbehave. She is responsible for dealing with bad behaviour on the premises of the Dollhouse. Ambrosia acts as a puppet to persuade individuals to take the path that Nyarlathotep desires.

A descendant of the powerful Azathoth. As a significant figure in the cosmic hierarchy, Nyarlathotep's main task is to aid in bringing the Outer Gods into the mortal world, which, according to some beliefs, will ultimately lead to the end of days. Over time, Nyarlathotep has taken on various forms, each designed to create chaos and destruction wherever he goes.

However, after observing the resilience and determination of humanity, Nyarlathotep began to develop a newfound appreciation for mortals. He was fascinated by how fragile they could be, yet how some of them could face any challenge with unwavering determination. As a result, he began to derive pleasure from driving humans to the point of madness and watching them destroy themselves.

Prision

Despite the fondness he has developed for humanity, Nyarlathotep still maintains the cults that worship his family. In his own way, he still contributes to the ultimate goal of bringing the Outer Gods into the mortal world. However, his newfound interest in humanity has caused him to shift his focus, and he no longer takes his primary job as seriously as he once did.

Planting the seeds of insanity, and waiting eons for the payoff, Nyarlathotep lived many lives and fought with and against many heroes. Becoming a whisper in the ears of tyrants pushing events to cause tragedy. The Outer God with true immortality has been outwitted by humanity's most determined and heroic figures sealing away various avatars yet none were so brazen to trap the god himself until he popped up on the Scarlet Orders radar.

Nyarlathotep, though admitting that his encounter with the Order did not end in his favour, remains unwavering in his conviction that their clash was merely a temporary setback. After all, they were successful in trapping him within a small, enclosed space, a pocket plane, but Nyarlathotep's formidable powers allow him to manipulate this dimension, controlling its appearance, location, and ambience. However, his confinement remains unbroken, and he cannot depart until the ward is shattered or the plane inevitably fades away. Despite his imprisonment, Nyarlathotep found a means of keeping himself entertained by taking on the persona of "Mer" and later, a female guise called "Ambrosia." He transformed his pocket plane into a mystical shop that peddled various enchanting items and curious trinkets. As the use of magic became more scrutinized, Mer converted the store into a cozy bar known as "The Dollhouse," where it has been operating ever since.

Design

Scar-like markings all over his body make him look like a ball-jointed doll

Missing an eye, although the eyepatch can change sides as Mer often forgets which eye he had 'lost'. His teeth should be drawn in the examples of the other artwork I have done. Which displays each individual tooth, If he is smiling regardless of style that is how his teeth MUST be drawn! This is to really hammer in how unsettling and out of place he really is!

In any universe set in a realistic setting after 1920 Mer will wear 1920's styled outfits. He believes fashion had peeked during that era and has never looked back. In a universe not set in a realistic setting Mer looks more like a traveling merchant

Causing Chaos: Nyarlathotep is an agent of chaos in the past he would be more direct in driving humans to the edge of insanity however he has learned it's easier to influence a person to take the desired path that would bring him the most entertainment.

Sit-Coms: An oddity for a Outer God but it's his guilty pleasure. He is stuck in prison and needs some way to entertain himself when no one is around at the bar. So he tends to watch whatever he can find on TV he enjoys old-fashioned sitcoms he doesn't mind some of the newer stuff.

Chaotic humans: A rarity but does happen, Nyarlathotep is drawn to a human whom he struggles to predict the actions of. No amount of influence on his part can make this person go in the direction he wants them to. Those are the humans who are most interesting to him! He observes and listens to their life stories wondering what's going to happen next!

Dislikes

Disrespectful people: This trait is kind of given to most people but Nyarlathotep in particular dislikes it when people disrespect him! He can't do much outside his bar but those who attempt to strong-arm him out of a free drink, start a fight or be otherwise disruptive to the point it bothers him will find themselves flat on their ass. His bar is his temple and those who disrespect The Dollhouse disrespect him!

Curious Humans: This is more in the context of humans who are curious about him and are pushy about it. A question here or there does not bother him but those who press when he had set a boundary grind his gears dropping his polite persona in exchange for allowing part of that 'Outer God' to shine

Trivia

Ambrosia is named after 'Ambrose Dexter'

The 'dog' Spot who guards the bar is a Shoggoth. The name Spot is odd since the dog doesn't have spots but Mer has named him Spot due to the number of eyes.

The ward that keeps him trapped varies in strength and weakness depending on the phases of the moon. Something Mer takes advantage of, he cannot send new avatars from within the bar outside but he can remove pieces of himself and allow them to take the form of new avatars outside the bar, that can do his bidding. This is done by sticking parts of his body outside the ward and allowing the magic to slice the limb off leaving him with unique 'scars' across his body. The scars along his mouth and missing eye are a mystery.

Mer has moments where he will slip out of his bartender persona, this is for mere seconds and not slow enough for humans to register the sudden change.

Mer is an old-fashioned fella who speaks formally but tends to use slang from the 1920s.
