MR. MONOKUMA'S LESSON, PIANO ARRANGEMENT
FULL BODY REFERENCE

NAME & STATUS
Henry Rutabaga | ALIVE

The Pianist
Henry's specialty earns him the title as a musician, but above all, he's an improviser. Although well-versed with grand pianos and similar variants such as the harpsichord and upright makes, he occasionally enjoys playing the electric keyboard for more vibrant compositions. Apart from freestyle strides and adapting preexisting songs into piano arrangements, he enjoys mashing up compositions and collaborating with others on a whim. Let it be known that he is still super high school level pianist, and as such, he is always looking to further improve his craft.

ETHNICITY & HOMELAND
RUSSIAN | CANADA

KEY FEATURES
► Head of wavy light grey hair, flipped upwards
► Three distinct freckles under his left eye
► Pale and silvery, light blue eyes (no cataracts)

PERSONALITY
CHAOTIC GOODESTP / ENTP
TRANSPARENT — WITTY — ASSERTIVE — OBJECTIVE — FEARLESS — NEIGHBORLY — PHILOSOPHICAL — SPONTANEOUS — SKEPTIC — DECISIVE
"Don't lie to me so blatantly," he'd chime in with a smile, "I may be blind, but I can see through your facade."
Henry's behavior can be described as poised and polite, but he speaks his mind and will readily give his opinion no matter the consequences. If you try to shut the door on him, he's the type to jam his foot in the doorway. Like any other character from the franchise, there is a comical air about his otherwise self-assured nature.

Despite being generally passive, he can adopt a dominant attitude should you happen to cross him. If you say something plausible during a trial, he'll commend you for it; conversely, if you say something misleading, expect to be his target of opportunity.

As of recent, he has become increasingly curious over the notion of death and, more over, blood. It seems as though he's developed an infatuation with it, so much that he yearns to feel the texture of it on his skin, the smell of it under his nose, and the taste of it on his tongue. Outside of these episodes, he tends to feel guilty over these brief but strong urges. Concerning death, he doesn't appear very fazed by it but rather accepting.

LIKES
► Practicing on the keys, of course. This includes learning new pieces and trying new keyboard-based instruments as well as genres.
► Classical crossover music, classical music, music box arrangements, violin and piano compositions, ragtime, funk, some pop.
► People that are willing to help him around and assist him with activities, people that smell good.
► Mediums of the mystery and suspense genre. The 1990s show "Twin Peaks" is his favourite.
► Animals, especially if they're soft, quiet, reserved in their movements, and don't smell bad.
► Warm food and beverages like coffee, tea, baked goods, soup, etc.
► Taking long bubble baths while listening to music.

DISLIKES
► Loud music that's fast and heavily weighed with lyrics and beats.
► People with annoying voices or speech impediments. These are like nails on a chalkboard to him.
► Being told what to do and following instructions at a conservative approach. He'd rather do things his way.
► Candles. He doesn't like their scent, the texture, or the idea of accidentally touching one or knocking it over.
Seafood, most spicy food. The former makes him nauseous and the latter's just obnoxious. Spicy seafood is hell.
► Having his personal space invaded unless he considers you a friend. This includes touching him or grabbing him when you probably shouldn't be.

HISTORY

ET CETERA
► Regarding his blindness, he is only able to detect drastic changes in lighting. He is fluent in braille and relies on his smartphone to help identify objects around him by snapping pictures of them. He is very 50/50 on whether he uses his cane or not (which is able to fold into three like this). He isn't all that fond of wearing shades so—if anything—he'll just shut his eyes if the room's too bright. Only if he knows he'll be somewhere over-lit for a long period of time will he wear shades that look something like this.
► His adoptive parents are bilingual so, as such, he is intermediate in French but nowhere near proficient like he is with English. His adoptive parents are also Swedish (and Jewish, if that explains any of his upbringing), thus explaining the origin of his last name LOL. His biological last name is currently unknown.
► Prone to wearing band-aids on his fingers thanks to the occasional mishap here and there. The most he's ever been injured was a broken arm.
► Possible voice claims: Vincent Martella as Hope Estheim from FF XIII.
► His full name, middle included, is Henry Augustine Rutabaga.
► He is mostly ambidextrous but right hand dominant.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE
Henry:
Pausing before his personal podium, appropriately indented with his name in braille, the pianist remained aloof yet readily open in the way he carried himself. Yuzuki Kyandi is dead, and even a trial such as this would not bring the confectioner back to life. What a waste, he mused to himself, another life taken by the hands of that damned invitation. He remembered feeling its wax-encrusted insignia on his fingertips.

He cleared his throat, looking down at the checkered tile before giving his peers the decency to observe his wandering eyes. "I often wonder whether our time here is being broadcast to both our loved ones and strangers alike on the outside... Tuning in to see both the despair and hope that ensues within these walls as though this were an evening program."

The aura about him was still. What could one possibly say to the outside world in a time like this? Help? I'm sorry? Nothing could mend what Hope's Peak has made of their lives. "Whether we target the correct person or not, let it be known that we too are murderers in this... 'game'. It's set up like that though." He frowned a little, remembering that every single life in that room would soon meet its demise. Henry sighed. "Let's do our best."
