Gelica is the daughter of an archangel and a demon who was sent to assist in Purgatory, since she wasn't allowed to stay in Heaven or Hell due to her mix of holy and unholy genes. She helps others atone for their sins, usually by having them suffer by her hands until she deems them purified. Although the other purifiers don't approve of her methods, they can't deny that it gets results quickly, and choose to leave her to do her thing. She genuinely wants to see people become redeemed, but the sadistic tendencies she gained from her mother makes it so she can't be as gentle and positive as the other assistants without feeling unsatisfied. Plus, if she were to do it their way, it'd take centuries before even one person would be redeemed, and those that she's purified show that violence is a very good incentive for someone to change their mindset.

Of course, it's not atonement 24/7 in Purgatory, and everyone gets a break at some point. Gelica usually uses hers to talk with some of the humans and learn what's happening in the mortal realm. A lot of people don't tell her much since they've grown wary or afraid of her, but she occasionally gleans bits of information that she finds amazing. For example, humans have made a way to talk to each other from far distances! That's awesome! They're also figuring out things about the minds of both themselves and animals! She always thought God just dropped everything down there and they were all supposed to act a certain way with a couple deviating from the norm, but no! They're out there domesticating animals that absolutely should not be able to be kept as pets and fixing people who have problems in their heads! Absolutely crazy stuff.

Gelica is very loud and excitable, much to the displeasure of her soft-spoken and boring peers. If you hear someone screaming in Purgatory, it's probably her. Or one of her victims. Or both. She thinks that people has to work for things and go through a bit of pain before they can get what they wish for. She also thinks it's way more satisfying that way, since it makes it feel like you earned it as opposed to just getting it handed to you out of chance or because of your status. Of course, she also just likes to see people suffer a bit, and can't deny that she likes it when they scream. She can see the good in anyone no matter how despicable they may seem at first, and wants to make those buried traits shine brightly, a mindset she probably inherited from her father.
