Serious, who is actually called Sirius but can't spell for shit, is a being known as the Graveyard Grim - the guardian spirit of all those who die in Ashbrook. She was given this position because she was the first to be buried within the city, and truly should not have such an important job. She decides which spirits get to move on to Heaven and Hell (or Ford’s phylactery), as well as deciding whether people are allowed to remain behind as ghosts. She's also a powerful poltergeist, capable of bothering the living as much as she bothers the dead.
Serious can be summoned by chanting Graveyard Grim a random number of times after dowsing yourself in blood. Usually the number of times is three, since that’s traditional, but it can be more or less depending on how much attention she’s paying to the person summoning her. The blood isn’t technically necessary - the chanting is all that’s required to grab her attention - but she likes the drama of it, and has made a point of refusing to show up without it.
She's super inspired by Beetlejuice! More so the musical than the movie.
FORD: Given that Ford is totally unable to harm her, and that he relies on her to choose the souls he can consume, Serious has 0 respect for Ford. For over 1000 years, she has been going out of her way to annoy him, and she's gotten quite good at it.
SPROUT: Sprout and Serious are besties who make out sometimes. Serious adores Sprout's illusionary powers, largely because she believes they aren't illusions, and that Sprout can do just about any magic.
