The Diver transports an individual into a watery limbo known as the Depth, (which physically induces them into a deep slumber) in which the transported individual is attached to a line that keeps them tethered to reality.

This limbo serves as a searching ground for something that is lost or uncertain. The more that is known about the thing the individual is searching for (whether it is an item, person, location, memory, truth, or answer), the easier it will be to locate within the "shallows" of the limbo. The more obscure it is, the deeper they must delve in order to find it. However, diving too far can cause the individual to break their tether and "drown," which forcefully expels Diver from their limbo and therefore rendering them unable to guide the individual. The individual remains asleep for an indefinite period based on their ability to navigate through the Depth and return to the surface, with or without their initial objective successfully completed.

There is no exact measure that determines the tether's breaking point, but it seems that one's inability to piece remnants of knowledge together in order to keep excavating the objective plays a huge part. Metaphorically, the unknown is what overwhelms and drowns the individual; leaving them cast into the dark, lost and alone.

Certain items can be physically retrieved from the Depth. People can be spoken to through the Depth, though the recipient/searched person will only be able to hear the individual's voice and will be unable to see them. A person's whereabouts can also be revealed if they are unable to be spoken to. Memories can be restored or reconstructed as a scene before the individual, allowing them to retrieve additional information they didn't notice before or to gain a new perspective
