- David is a very proud and mischievous man with an infectiously boisterous demeanor. He loves what he does, and years of experience have made him incredibly confident when he does it. If he makes a mistake, he may beat himself up for it, but he's definitely going to reassure everybody else that he knows exactly what he's doing.
- At the surface level, his class clown attitude can put off a lot of people, and he seems much too reckless for just anyone to handle. When he does make friends, though, he's incredibly loving and loyal. He'll openly hug, cuddle, and tease people that he connects with, but he puts up emotional walls to keep them from getting too close. He always makes sure to be the life of the party, jokes flying out of him like bats out of a cave in Scooby Doo.
- David has a knack for weaving in and out of trouble as he pleases, having used his words to escape plenty of situations in his day. Don't get him wrong, though, he isn't actually that great under pressure and has made a lot of blunders. That's why it's so important that he always manages to weasel his way out! ...Eventually.
- David has suffered rejection after rejection trying to turn his life into something more, and he's become a bit of a pessimist as a consequence. If he perceives that he's about to fail, or that someone has failed him, he'll put up his walls and attempt to move forward to the next place or thing on his list.
- Because of this, he has a deep-set desire to be seen as someone desirable. Whether it be emotionally or physically, he just wants someone to look at him and want to be around him. Or even be with him, but that may be too ambitious in David's eyes. His jokes, smiles, and teasing are all what he hopes are tickets to being loved.
- Appearance
David has somewhat dark skin with olive undertones. He has a round face, but not childlike - it's more reminiscent of an oval than anything. He has a habit of smiling in a lopsided way, and his teeth are shiny white. His eyes are a deep brown, and his hair is blue-black and fluffy. - He has a tiny stature, but he makes up for it with his wideness. He's a strong-looking guy, with a lot of healthy fat disguising how much muscle he really has. He's also constantly clad in denim overalls and a T-shirt, which really pushes him into the territory of a true farm boy.

- Backstory
David is good at what he does, and he knows it. A former class clown and delinquent, he spends a good amount of his time trying to show off his worth to everyone he meets, always seeming to miss where it counts. Coming from a wealthy upbringing, he escaped halfway through college to a life he thought might be more freeing. He’s spent the last several years bouncing around the U.S.A., taking work and lodging where he can get it.
Using his unfinished degree in mathematics and great knowledge of mechanics (though mostly the latter), he’s found a niche for himself; those kinds of jobs always in demand somewhere if you’re willing to look. He’s been in auto shops, factories, warehouses, and presently a farm, always taking away from those places pieces of experience he might be able to turn into something more. But it isn’t nearly as liberating as he’d hoped. No matter where he might go, any time he found something that might help him get ahead, he learned the hard way that it costs far more than he could hope to have, both figuratively and literally. - He lives on his own terms, more or less, staying somewhere as long as he needs to, or as long as he can. Presently, he works as an underpaid farmhand for a thoroughly unpleasant old coot, constantly planning for his next jump. But things keep coming up. Rural farmland isn’t exactly easy to get out of on foot, after all. But he does what he does best; Work hard, keep your head up, and always crack a joke when you can. Not much better to do, anyhow.

David met Geriseus when he crashed his ship into the cornfield of his terrible boss, burning a giant hole right in the center of it all before subduing his boss and offering to take him on board his ship. David is skeptical of this man, but also is very intrigued by his mysterious nature and very firm biceps. He doesn't know it yet, but he and Geri are going to grow to be best friends, if not more... - Valerie friend
David's first impression of Valerie was "very rude intruder on their spaceship". Later, though, they learn to really love each others' company. David and Val share a lot of laughs, and their dynamic sweeps everyone up with them until the whole ship is wheezing with cry-laughter. Valerie is also a mentor figure for David in the art of being slutty. - Mary

David's first impression of Mary was her shoving fistfuls of spinach into her purse behind the counter of a Subway. They eventually get to know each other, and it turns into a sort of peaceful friendship that neither of them has really had before. They both find a lot of comfort in the other, and they find that talking about hard topics isn't quite as hard with the other person around. - What's David's favorite color?

- What inspired David?
He and Geriseus both started when my girlfriend started writing a trashy space romance novel that eventually evolved into Hopecore. He was originally a self-insert, but he’s definitely grown beautifully past that. - What made him grow so much?
- Me, according to her! I was really open to having a conversation about her 3 AM loneliness-driven romance oneshot, so instead of withering away in her Google Docs, Hopecore actually turned into a fleshed out story!
