Heist
The details of Luther's early life are a mystery. All that's known is that he entered the jewelry industry as an apprentice of a world famous jeweler, tasked with sourcing the finest stones for his work. Unbeknownst to his teacher, Luther had a deep hatred for the industry due to extravagant prices, artificial scarcity, and appalling mining conditions, and worked under him not out of passion, but out of a desire to change the industry for the better. Despite his well intentioned beliefs, his actions were little more than misguided theft as he stole stones from other sources including museums rather than buying them from the distributors he believed were the root of the problem, and even then, his goals were not as pure as he claimed, as he pocketed some of the profits of his teacher's work for himself.
Takeover
After his teacher passed away, Luther inherited the company, and though he only intended to use the business for his own material gain as he grew more and more distant from his original humanitarian goals, Luther found himself becoming legitimately passionate about the art of creating jewelry, and began to pursue the career with legitimate passion.
Current
Because running the business himself put Luther at a greater risk for his illegitimate means of sourcing stones, Luther adapted into yet another persona, a spy working within the ranks of any organization who tries to investigate him. For years his life was a constant struggle to balance these three opposing aspects of his life until Luther had had enough. He no longer wanted to pursue a life of crime and wanted to shift his business and life into sourcing legitimately and ethically. He currently struggles to cut all his ties without leaving loose ends, but he hopes that some day he'll be free to do what he loves.
