General Personality:

-Either naive or choosing ignorance of the situation he's in, this character is giving up his freedom and desires in order to fulfill another purpose. This purpose, he hopes, will bring happiness to those around him, or perhaps this is just a delusion to make this decision less painful. This character knows much more than they let on, hiding fears, hopes, and knowledge behind a facade of innocence. They MUST do this. There is no other way. There is no other option. They lie to themselves and insist there is no choice to make, though they have so many escape routes, so many other paths to take...the thought of the consequences is overwhelming. They have the ability...but they lack the conviction. They wish only to do what wil help others, even at the expense of their self.

What is their purpose?

-Their purpose is to take the pains and worries of others. To fulfill their wishes, in some cases...to bring peace, but at great cost to their person. Their existence is to suffer so that others might be happy and find prosperity. They are a giving soul...meant to provide...meant to suffer. They are complacent in their captivity, separated from the rest of the world for the peace of others. The happiness of others. Taking on their pain, their rage, suffering as or for whatever purpose those who visit them require.

Now, the way I've chosen to build on this is that Yume was an ancient sacrifice, and he's now willingly trapped in a sort of dream dimension. His civilization has long vanished, but he continues to carry out his duty, not knowing that he could leave now. People who are in dire need of some form of release sometimes find their way to his dimension in their dreams, where it's his job to let them achieve whatever this may be...this ranges from innocent things, such as him taking on the form of a passed loved one, or providing company and compassion, or even giving them the advice they need to hear, to not so great things, typically of a variety of violent things. Being in a dream dimension, though, he is able to recover from anything. And on the off chance he does one day follow someone from his dream dimension...he will maintain very slight control over reality, able to create minor distortions in order to benefit those around him. Being in the physical realm does make this harder on him, so he's limited to several minor things or one major thing every week or so.
