Basics
Kairos is currently a Captain in the Fleet, though their previous track record has lead to them having few responsibilities and generally being delegated to grunt work.
Kairos is an active member of the Fleet. They additionally are the descendent of Cataclysm, who was once the most feared conqueror on Alternia, but his legacy has been destroyed by the Empire.
Often uses ellipses in place of punctuation, replaces 'e' with '=', and uses no capitalization.
Their original snow leopard lusus is deceased, having been left behind when Kairos was conscripted and dying at some point while they were gone. They have retrieved their lusii's bones and had them articulated; Their current lusus is some relative of their original lusus.
They live in a midblood-level apartment complex in the city, near the Fleet base they are stationed at. They have a jadeblood hivemate named Jodari.
They are well-off, having retrieved a considerable sum of money from their ancestor's hive. However, they seldom buy anything other than necessities and prefer to save the funds so they don't have to worry.
- While Kairos is a member of the Fleet, they feel no personal obligation to cull mutants or arrest criminals unless they are very open about either, thus putting Kairos in danger if it is discovered they were a witness.
Personality & History
Intro
Kairos is cold, blunt, and generally apathetic towards others. They have little care for those around them due to assuming the worst of others- Presuming that even the trolls who put effort into interacting with them are only doing so by some other obligation and do not actually care for them. They are self-depreciating, presenting this as honesty, and have little self-worth. They are additionally hemoist to an extent, but believe that those (including themselves) who do not play their caste's role do not deserve their caste rights, rather than those rights being truly inherent.
They are highly cynical, and effectively caught in a feedback loop of emotional trauma and response. However they sometimes make some mild effort at times to be tolerable, or at least not inflict their misery on others, and can be very thoughtful and attuned to the needs of others under the right circumstances.
Conscription
Prior to conscription, Kairos lived alone in their ancestor's castle, studying magic with a focus on necromancy. At 20 sweeps old, a group of rebels fleeing the Empire discovered their castle and elected to use it as a hideout, booting Kairos out in the process.
In a different timeline, their original iteration became a lich to bolster their power, raised a small army of undead, and killed the rebels to retake their home.
In this timeline, Kairos was instead picked up by a Fleet ship that had been scouring the area for the rebels. Their bad temper and lack of any social standing as a fuchsia lead to them getting thrown on the front lines as soon as they'd completed their training- Treatment typically reserved for non-psionic lowbloods and mid to highbloods with no skills useful to the Fleet.
Kairos' continued temper and insubordinance lead to them staying on the front lines for 200 sweeps, fighting just to survive. Finally, they were granted a promotion to the rank of Corporal and stationed on Alternia.
Time on Alternia
Kairos believed that their stationing on Alternia was temporary and would last a few perigees at best, but after nearly a sweep they have slowly had to come to terms with the fact that they may not go back to the front lines. They have, despite their fears that it'll be ripped away from them, slowly begun to open up and build a life for themselves. They have taken up necromancy once more, though this time only as a hobby, and hoping to gain some control over their magical ability once more.
Having begun some close relationships on Alternia, only to lose those relationships, has made Kairos that much more cynical and wary.
Trivia & Other Info
- The natural magic of the Mikari lineage is one of sheer, overwhelming power. With Kairos both lacking a mentor and neglecting their ability and study while they came fully into their power, their magic is maddeningly destructive to both themselves and their environment. They have passed the ability off as latent, uncontrollable psionics.
- Kairos has a slightly younger sibling named Ramira, who is presently living at their shared ancestor's castle.
- Sometime prior to conscription while they were studying magic, Kairos summoned an ice construct. The construct was, however, aggressive towards them, and hit them in the face, leaving them with an icy mark and a curse making them incapable of tolerating warm temperatures. Ice and frost additionally forms on their clothes when they sit still, and icicles hang from their horns nearly constantly.
Physical & Mental
Kairos has several triggers; Alarms, sirens, or loud noises; Gunshots, explosions, or similar sounds; Aliens. Additionally, touching or looking close at their face or scars can be upsetting for them. On a more general level, they also fear being alone for the rest of their life.
They have no allergies or intolerances. They suffer from insomnia, struggling both to fall asleep and stay asleep, and are considerably sleep-deprived at any given moment. Their physical health is decent, but they suffer from chronic bronchitis and periodic fevers, exacerbated by their smoking habit and stress.
Various scars, most notably severe burn scars on their face and forearms.
They are mostly blind in their right eye, and the area of their scars is mostly numb and partially immobile, such as their fingers and one side of their mouth. They suffer from insomnia, chronic bronchitis, and periodic fevers. They additionally have a curse which lowers their tolerance for high temperatures, causing heat stroke or exhaustion in temperatures above 80F. They additionally do not feel the cold, although they are still capable of suffering frostbite and hypothermia.
Skills & Arsenal
Kairos is skilled and experienced in the art of war, from group tactics to one-on-one combat. They are, however, disused to utilizing tactics beyond what is absolutely necessary to survive any given fight.
Kairos dabbles in necromancy, though they are barely capable of actually performing any such resurrections.
A somewhat magical, ancient two-handed weapon once belonging to Kairos' ancestor. It is nearly impossible to damage with ordinary means.
If forced well beyond their limits, Kairos may- Accidentally or intentionally- Unleash an eruption of sheer magical energy, utterly destroying their environment and often their enemies.
Relationships
Sibley @roetrolls [ Comrade ]
A former footsoldier who was briefly apart of the same regime as Kairos. They feel some fondness for Sibley and are glad someone else survived the ordeal of being a footsoldier. Kairos usurped their shared former superior, Terios, and took his rank of Captain.
Jodari @cloubattrolls [ Hivemate ]
A fellow member of the Fleet, though Jodari generally works with the brooding caverns. Kairos respects her, and perhaps fears her some, as she can inflict quite the paperwork reckoning with her bureaucratic skills. They are vaguely ashamed that she sees effectively the worst of them when they're at hive.
Corvi @lashydsdomain [ Friend? ]
A brief blind date fling that turned into a distant sort of friendship. Kairos puts only the bare minimum of effort to keep the friendship from dying entirely, and generally feels that Corvi only pities them and perhaps feels some comraderie over their shared chronic health issues.
