Personality: 

Sammi is a mild, gentlemanly Pokemon, with a love of helping others. After years of working and saving, he has learned much, and he wants to be able to help others achieve their dreams as well! One of his favorite things to do is to meet new Pokemon, and just hang out with them, be it with or without a silent conversation. Some of Sammi's best friends were met that way! Sammi also is very sympathetic towards Pokemon in need, and will almost always either give them some encouraging (written) words, or try his best to help them himself!
However, Sammi can be rather oblivious to how other Pokemon think of him. Often, his obliviousness can lead to uncomfortable situations where neither Pokemon is talking, and Sammi thinks that they are hanging out, but the other Pokemon has no idea what is going on. Not only that, he can be rather hard on himself. He wants to be the best he can be! So, if he makes mistakes (that he recognizes are mistakes), he can dwell on them for quite a while. It may even take him years to truly stop thinking about something as small as making a sub-par drink, or making the wrong kind of drink! He is also a rather physically slow Pokemon- even as a child, he was slow, and as an elderly adult he is somehow even slower!
But, through and through, Sammi is a kind and intelligent Pokemon. While he is not good under pressure, he loves playing things like chess, and strategizing about seemingly pointless things! All in all, Sammi is a good Pokemon.
Just bad at noticing things.

Backstory:

On September the twenty-eighth, Sammi was born to Sasha the Heliolisk and Aroguan the Tropius/Milotic. And, a few years later, he was joined by his sister, Tammany.
Sammi's family (on his mother's side, at the very least) was rather superstitious. So, when Sammi never spoke, and Tammany was found to be deaf, Sasha blamed her half-sister Emillia. Sammi's grandfather, Bates the Heliolisk, had remarried after his wife had passed, and had had Emillia. Sasha and Sammi's other aunt, Maria, were furious at their father, and, in turn, at Emillia. They blamed her for a curse upon all of the hybrids on their family, that they would all be born with some malady, as Bates's past wife's final revenge. This was, of course, a load of bologna.
Sammi and Tammany grew close to Emillia (despite their mother's wishes), and learned many things from her. While Tammany was taught how to write, Sammi was deeply intrigued by Emillia's line of work: Emillia worked as a barista in a cafe, making drinks for the customers, and said customers always left with a smile! Sammi wanted to be able to do that.
When Sammi was old enough to work, he went off and began to save up money. When Emillia offered to help- he refused, writing that she had already helped him so much. Together, they crafted the perfect name for the establishment: the Mellow Morning, a place where Pokemon could come from far and wide to have a drink or just chat with friends and strangers!
It was hard work, though. From small jobs around Brightkeep, to even working on an Orchard for a while, Sammi worked and worked, and saved and saved. Emillia never got to see the opening of the Mellow Morning, as she died a good couple of decades ago to natural causes. But Sammi never stopped working- until, finally, he had completed it. His dream job. His dream place! The Mellow Morning cafe, just as he had always wanted it to be, was finally a reality! That was seventeen years ago.
Ever since, Sammi has been working contentedly at the Mellow Morning, serving Pokemon from near and far with his tasty drinks!
But, recently, something strange has happened: Sammi has been having some strange plant issues. Plants growing out of control, plants blossoming around him, even the walk up to his house has been overtaken by tiny, incessant plants. Sammi has no explanation for it, other than his Big Root necklace.
Probably, it was that!
Nothing else.
Nothing more ancient than that.
He tries to ignore the plants when he can.
