Profile
An abandoned prototype of an artificial spirit left in the ruins of Kalirang, Tjong was found and restored a few centuries ago by Lian and Paija. Raised in near-complete isolation in an abandoned city where night never ends, Tjong has an incredibly poor perception of time and a dubious understanding of society at large. Much of his knowledge on history and civilization comes from historical myths, heroes' tales, and... the preserved recordings of ancient soap operas. Lian, who he thinks of like his mother (despite referring to her as his aunt), oscillates between treating him like her young child and her personal manservant. The... dysfunction of their dynamic seems entirely lost on him. He follows her orders, including her request that he watch over Meridian.
Obedient to a fault and rarely thinking to question what he is told, Tjong is absolutely a follower and often doesn't know what to do with himself without some sort of preordained task. At the same time, he has a hard time seeing things from others' perspectives and is very difficult to reason with. He tends to jump to strange conclusions or fail to connect events, though this trait is notably lessened after [spoilers text here]. He has an inflated ego, considering himself a heroic warrior and assuming that he must be the most capable person for any task he is given. He incredibly dedicated to his goals and faces them with an indomitable will. Tjong has a somewhat antiquated and theatrical way of speaking, but his face is not very expressive at all due to his anatomy. He readily admits when he does not understand things and remains entirely ignorant of the fact that everyone around him is constantly embroiled in complex schemes. Though he has poor social intelligence, his nature as a spirit allows him to understand complex systems with relative ease. He has an almost encyclopedic knowledge of how spirits, relics, and the astral realm function.
He is incredibly strong and durable, tearing through concrete like cardboard and catching cannonballs in his bare hands. Tjong's primary summon is that of a hammer (which can vary in size, but, keeping with his character, usually appears comically large), though he does not often use it as a weapon - instead, he uses it to create other astral weapons, which are then stored inside of his chest for him to summon at will. Aside from the hammer, these weapons will despawn if they leave his grasp. His weapons tend to be large and heavy, and his fighting style involves switching rapidly between them. As a spirit, he does not require food, water, or air, but does have to spend time cultivating energy in order to maintain his humanoid form. Spirits also do not bleed; instead, they leak a stylized smoky substance when injured. Tjong's relic form is that of a sheathed blade - unsheathing the blade causes him to awaken in his humanoid form. He can be banished back into this form, or return to it voluntarily. While banished, he is essentially unconscious. He can heal himself and gain energy by consuming metal.
