Profile

Due to the permanently altered astral realm throughout his home country of Ranlindyr, Audrist Fortunatia was born as an Oracle, at the cost of  his physical health. He possesses a sixth sense that allows him to sense objects that would not usually be visible to him - an ability he often exploited as a pickpocket. At fourteen, he stole a large amount of an  ethereal material called Mani off a scientist for the Horizon Communications Corporation. He then returned to his parents glass workshop and used it to create suncatchers with illusory properties.  Once the company tracked him down, they offered him a deal - he would  attend their prestigious boarding school and work for them for the  remainder of his life, or he'd be prosecuted to the full extent.  Obviously, he went to the school, where he was immediately put on track to study sorcery. After his graduation, he was sent to a covert department that was developing weapons. Once rumors of the weapons development in Ranlindyr reached the Elemental Council, they captured him and took him to their floating base adjacent to the nearby island of Meruang to interrogate him. By exaggerating the affect of his injuries and using several small relics concealed on his person, Audrist escaped  and defected to the Luminiferous Guild of Sorcerers.

Although Audrist's wild, erratic behavior often puts him at odds with his peers, he's never seemed to care much what others think of him. Creative and driven, he will push himself to the limit without  hesitation. He's a quick thinker with even faster reflexes, but his short temper and tendency to plunge in headfirst often get him into trouble. While ill-mannered, he is exceptionally sincere - the idea of  lying to spare another's feelings appears to never cross his mind at all, but at least you can be sure he means what he says. Audrist can't stand being pitied; it disgusts him. In turn, he takes care not to do so  to others. His lifestyle has left him high-strung and paranoid; he does not trust easily. Though, he is very loyal and protective over anyone who does gain his trust. Audrist strives for a better world, but he...  isn't quite sure what that means to him, really. He rebels on principle and generally thinks inaction is equal to cowardice. Despite his domineering front, he feels he has very little control over his life, and he hates it.

Audrist is hypersensitive to many things, but, most notably, magic. While his body responds better to magical healing, it also responds worse to magical damage. This is the cause of the colorful scars all  over his body (mostly from when he got captured by the council), and also why he dresses to cover himself as much as possible. Aside from  serving as protection, the respirator also aids his breathing. Without  it, his stamina is very low and his breathing problems are easily exacerbated. He has a small, slug-like spirit in place of the bottom lobe of his right lung - it is essentially a medical implant.

He conceptualized his own weapon and created it with some help from the more mechanically inclined Zee. It takes the form of a handgun that holds several glass inserts in a revolving chamber. Each glass piece has an item essentially stored in stasis. Shooting something with the gun's otherwise harmless laser will swap it with the stored item. It does not work on living things. Audrist keeps a ton of inserts with different things in them on his person, so he always has a huge inventory.
