Zee Kaji

Zee Kaji is from Lantern Island, a land cloaked in eternal fog and the  closest modern settlement to the ruins of Old Perakami. Her parents were  both sorcerers, a path they discouraged her from following, but one she  eventually ended up on, anyways. Zee grew up with a comfortable  lifestyle in a mid-size town and excelled in school, though she often found herself bored by her surroundings. She is fascinated by the lost technology of the Perihelion Era, often going off on her own to scavenge for forgotten relics. A few years ago, she found the remains of an ancient airship. A mechanic by trade, she was eventually able to restore  it to a functional state. However, some of its features would not work  without the use of sorcery, so Zee set off for the infamous ethereal volcano Meruang and the infamous Luminiferous Guild of Sorcerers.

Though talkative and friendly, Zee is often dismissive of others -  perhaps naively so, as she appears ignorant of the inherent danger of her situation. She tends to disregard the intentions of others unless  she considers them an "interesting person." Conversely, Zee considers herself stable, rational, and uninteresting... whether or not any of  those descriptors are actually accurate is certainly debatable. She is  curious and intelligent with a wide range of interests, but she quickly becomes frustrated when she can't grasp something immediately. Sorcery in particular has been difficult for her, much to her chagrin. Zee is easily annoyed in general, tends to take things personally, and can be  rather petty and vain. She often appears to do things simply for  novelty. Zee enjoys luxuries and style and is willing to be a criminal accomplice to sustain her lifestyle.

Her presence on the island is not as clear-cut as it seems, though. She claims the ship she found communicates with her and tells her where to  go and what to look for. It isn't a secret per se, but the subject  doesn't come up in conversation very cleanly. When it is mentioned, she is almost disturbingly casual about it, even when people don't believe her. She is very opaque about the details of the messages she receives.  Typically, Zee does not participate directly in combat or exploration.  She has a small drone that she uses to scout out areas for the others  and provide light combat support in the form of, like, lasers or whatever.
