Ivay's greatest flaw is his asocial behavior. After the loss of his family, he became quite the hermit, preferring to hide away in the labyrinth library that is Nanja's shrine rather than socialize with any of the other Avatars, who could be potential allies. Yes, his deafness is partially to blame, but it's gotten to the point where Terray is the only person he ever voluntarily seeks out to spend time with. (Though Koji often appears to try to defeat him in combat every once and a while.)

Ivay's best quality is probably his intuitive and balanced perception of life. Though he often voices a more cynical opinion, his various and numerous studies have greatly broadened his perspective of the world and he can easily read just about any situation and adapt accordingly.
