Mao is a very sweet boy, he loves baking as much as he loves eating. He's a little self conscious of his weight, so he's been trying to exercise more recently. However he just can't give up eating so many sweets a day, his love of food always overrules everything to him! He's round, soft, and very squishy - and so is his personality. Many say he smells like a sweet cinnamon bun and often get hungry while around him.

History
Due to being tricked into looking after a shrine in place of a god for the past 300 years in the human world, Mao had gotten used to humans bringing him food as offerings to him. His love for food grew as the years went by and so did his longing to go outside. Mao didn't want to be stuck pretending to be a god in a shrine any more as his curiosity for the culinary world grew larger and larger. But his love for his faithful humans kept him there, he couldn't bare to leave them without someone looking after their land. Until one day he heard in the wind that the original god of the shrine was finally making his way back home, ecstatic at the news that he could finally leave and pursue his new baking dreams, he did something out of character. He packed his belongings - his old kimono and his favourite stem of sakura - wrote a note to the god, and left.
Taking this opportunity, he went to culinary school in the human world, majoring in patisserie he graduated with flying colours. Mao felt he was finally able to return home to Chime.

Now, several years later he owns his own Patisserie in Chime. It's only small, but it is quite popular due to its cute european cottage design and delicate treats.
