Profile
Iolite is a calm and balanced Gem who wields a dual-ended sword. They tend to avoid conflict between their friends and team mates, but enjoy battling monsters and others they aren't allied with. When not in battle they prefer floating to walking and still move fluently. They find being in positions of leadership very difficult and often lose focus on important things. During Fusions they tend to be less dominant in personality, but more in fighting styles. They can be very picky about who they Fuse with and tend to build up a heavy trust with other Gems before Fusing with them. Generally Iolite is cheerful and kind but is easily distracted and, especially during battle, will run to a distressed or hurt ally. This causes them to put themself in danger more often than not, so they take too much damage and return to their Gem. This has happened more times than they're willing to admit.
The story behind their two gems relates back to events that occured in Homeworld. Iolite and another Gem they were close with were hiding from a war-like outbreak and decided to Fuse to keep each other safe. The other Gem was significantly weaker than Iolite, but becaue of Io's personality they'd taken on the less dominant role in the Fusion. When they were found Fused they became the main targets of a barrage of attacks that killed Io's Fusion partner. Io took on a lot of damage during the attack as well and hadn't realised what had happened until they reformed after being forced back into their Gem. When they reformed they had two Gems; their original one and the Gem of their Fusion partner. Io still wields their Fused weapon, the dual-ended sword, in memory of their fallen friend.
Their fighting style is very fluent and they often incorporate dancing into their techniques. Their style is all about momentum and the continuing of movement; they only ever stop moving to attack multiple opponents in a single area or because they've been hit. They prefer to be close to their opponents since they can't properly control their weapon at long distances. During battles they change the function of their weapon a lot. The functions most commonly used are:
~As a single, dual-ended blade (most common)
~As two separate blades
~As a gun/projectile launcher (uses to both attack and gain speed/momentum)
~As a nunchuck-like weapon with a long chain connecting the two blades
Because of their excellent balance they often stand on the end of the weapon to gain a height advantage over opponents, and also to gain falling momentum should they choose to jump off it. When fighting they use techniques like:
~Spinning the weapon when its as one
~When the weapon spins too fast they let go, keeping it moving with their mind but controlling it with hand movements
~Using their waist, hips and shoulders to move the weapon from one side of their body to the other without breaking momentum and allowing them to keep attacking even whilst moving from left to right/right to left
~Spinning the weapon when its a gun to continue firing it in rapid succession
~Using the chain to trap opponents whilst using the blades to fight at the same time
