ヴァシマー

Xylons are pure creatures born of the sea and song that feed off of emotions, though what kind generally depends on the Xylon themselves as well as their environment. The emotions that they consume can vary from entirely happy feelings to ones that can cause extreme mental stress to the Xylon, especially if they are from a human; these emotions are typically very potent, difficult to properly digest, and can be considered a kind of poison to the Xylons.

They also possess unique stones on the ends of their tails, which are believed to contribute to physical health and mental balance.

Paired along with these sea creatures are Xybuns, which are companions and/or pets for the lack of a better term, that are born along with the Xylon themselves. They are very important for maintaining the mental stability and health of their owners, and their only source of food is the Xylon’s song. They also vary in appearance, but generally take on similar patterns and colors to their owners. Xylons and Xybuns are cherished lifelong companions, and it would be very difficult for either to survive efficiently without the other.

Born of the southern sea into a well-known family and bearing the rare larimar stone on his tail, Vasmir—or Vasmati—is considered almost a godlike creature to the people living in the south. There had once been a terrible war that caused famine all throughout the land, but the song of Vasmir’s mother ended the starvation of the peoples. His song is unique in that it can help to fertilize crops, heal minor sicknesses as well as small injuries. Since his mother passed away, he is believed to be the only Xylon left in existence, and is thus revered, and practically worshipped.

Vasmir travels around the southern part of the world, helping populations rebuild their cities and villages, and absorbs the positive emotions of the creatures surrounding him. Although physical food is not a necessity, he has discovered a great love for chocolate after spending his time with humans.

Due to traveling around so much and meeting various cultures, his knowledge is vast. Another reason he constantly moves from place to place is because the people will often try to track his whereabouts to plead for his assistance. He is willing to provide help, but grows tired of interacting with the same individuals repeatedly.

Because of these tiring experiences with people, he neglects to tell them of the voice of the Xylon he can hear from the north. He does not travel there, as the northern world is treacherous and currently waging war. His fear of blood also prevents him from venturing too far. He constantly sings back to the northern Xylon, telling them of his experiences with the people and the world, but it seems that they do not understand him entirely; the voice is very soothing and compelling, but the meanings it carries are very abstract.

After some time, he stops hearing the songs from the north. He sings constantly with his Xybun companion, Basil, which empowers his voice with harmony, and much more frequently than before. However, he is still unable to hear a response, and assumes the worst: the only other Xylon in this world has died. Vasmir tries not to give up hope, however, and decides to travel north in search of the other Xylon.
