Profile
Torr Pebblecheek
Adaptable • Sarcastic • Irritable
Torr prefers to keep to themselves, but is often found in groups due to their instinctive need for clan ties. While they're willing to keep a team alive, they tend to lack connection to them and is less willing to make personal sacrifices than the average person. They often prioritize their own safety and needs and hasn't been afraid to bail if those safety and needs feel overly threatened. Often in battle they'll hang back and often tries to let other party members proceed before they make their own move. They priortize using spells over melee attacks.
Despite being reserved, Torr is pretty laid back and can have a dry sense of humor. They like to cheer on others mischeif and is an advocate for stealing, especially due to the fact that survived for a majority of their life through petty theft. They tend to priortize stealing shiny objects and food, even if there is plenty available to them. They don't particularly care for others who are a major stickelr for the law and often finds more distrust than average in those individuals. Torr does not openly speak about their past and will often change up their answers if asked more than once where they got all of their scars.

Cubhood
Torr was found as a few-day-old cub by their adoptive parent, Zoh, out in unclaimed territory in the dusty desert. Zoh had not been a parent before, but as the clan's healer, had an interest in helping those in need. The clan was not particularly fond of outsiders but allowed the cub to be brought into the clan due to Zoh's high status.
Unfortuantely, the cub was still regarded as lesser than a majority of the clan and subjected to to treatment comparable to a prisoner. While Zoh tried to protect Torr from maltreatment, Torr grew to be a bitter child and started acting out in rebellion to the treatment they recieved - stealing, destroying things, and often ending up in fights with other gnolls.
Zoh attempted to busy Torr with other things such as beginning to learn healing like he provided for the clan, but the resentment Torr held for being treated so differently than everyone else in the clan was much stronger. One day the young gnoll stole an important heriloom from the clan leader and hid well to destroy it out of spite.
It was (correctly) assumed that Torr had stolen the piece as they were known for their thieving antics, but unable to find Torr nor the heriloom, Zoh was taken in as prisoner for pending punishment, unless Torr was turned in for execution.
Torr returned to find Zoh imprisoned and started to panic, telling Zoh they should run away together. Zoh attempted to be gentle at first, telling Torr they needed to go before they were caught but Torr had always been unreasonably stubborn and was insistent on trying to get away despite how impossible it had seemed. In a fit of frustration, Zoh snapped at Torr, demanding they leave and never return to the clan, lest Zoh kill them himself after all the trouble they'd caused. Never having heard an unkind word from Zoh, Torr ran from the clan in a wave of fear and guilt.
Torr left that day not knowing the fate of Zoh.
Post-clan
Torr spent much of their adolesence stealing to get by, getting caught for stealing and spending time jailed for said stealing. When not sitting in a cell, they relied a lot on the hospitality of temples to find a nice place to rest, some decent food and kind company (though Torr mostly kept to themselves). The temples felt familiar of Zoh and perhaps out of guilt or fading admiration, Torr began studying to become a cleric. While the studying kept them busy, it did not nesecarrily reduce how much time they spent sitting in jail for petty theft.
Cleric-for-hire
Once confident in the level of their cleric studies, Torr began offering their healing services as a cleric-for-hire, often in helping groups to travel from point A to point B. They purposefully avoided any offers with explict danger involved. While they would put up with some level of risk (for the right price) if Torr felt any level of personal threat, it was unsurprisng for the party to wake and find the gnoll long gone.
Noteable parties Torr worked for before the campaign party were a group of monks, a traveling bard band, and an overly-kind group of moms that, while kind of unbearable, taught Torr some good recipies.
Prior to Camaign Start
Torr was still carrying on as a cleric-for-hire before ending up in the Declare castle. With a somewhat stable income, they were spending less time in jail (but still found there on the occasional night or two). Comparatively to human age, Torr may have been in their early 30's.
Campaign (completed)
If ur reading this and u dont know the campaign im so sorry idk when ill be here to write all that out its so much it was like a yEAR AND A HALF
Torr does a cool spell though and helps save the earth its pretty dope u shoulda been there THEY ALSO GET A MAP TO ZOH thats an important thing to note
Epilouge
With the evil driven from the land, the group slowly settled into more routine-like-lives. Torr still carried on with guard duties for the Declares and the occasional cleric-for-hire job (their group ditch ratio and time spent in jail has greatly lessened). They spent a good few months delaying to follow the map that possibly led to Zoh.
One day when the nerve hit them, they followed the map to a small living quarters and hesitated greatly before knocking. A elderly, scarred gnoll answered the door, croaking with a surprised, "Torr?" Hearing their name from their parent after so long was enough to break Torr to tears before rushing forward to embrace their parent who could only say, "It's good to see you."
Bharghiña
[ Best Friend, Packmate ]
Torr likes having someone around who just gets it, you know? To eat loads of tasty food, not bullshit around, and have a good time while also not dying. The not dying part is very important. Bharghiña is the only member of the party who knows Torr's past and was able to stop them from ditching out on the team (again). Torr doesn't know what a 'best bud' is, but if they did they may insinuate Bharghiña at least resembles that role. While Torr does not hold any romantic feelings with Bharghiña, they seem to be spending a lot of time physically close to her. Torr is currently Bharghiña's manager at the colosseum; their notepad is full of absolute nonsense but god damn do they make a good accountant.
Furfrou
[ Friend, Packmate ]
Torr really enjoys the antics Furfrou stirs up and is always ready to be their #1 supporter when it comes to committing crimes. However, they could do without the leaping in death's way and overuse of thunderclap if Torr is honest. They don't really get the whole flirting and seducing thing Furfrou always seems to be doing, but as long as they're having a good time and isn't dying. While Torr supports and cares about Furfrou (whether they admit this or not), they are still very "I told you so" considering the ring bear situation at their wedding. Despite that, Torr is glad to see their friend living happily with their husband.
Peanut "Bruiser" Butter
[ Friend, Packmate ]
Torr has been ready to throw PB into their meat sack since day one, but they will admit (unwillingly) that the desire has diminished overtime. They respect PB's way with words and his ability to slide them out of sticky situations. Torr does wish he was less of a stickler when it came to the rules and will admit they hold a bit of distrust with him when it comes to the group committing (necessary!) crimes, as he usually does not partake. His fragility still worries Torr, but thankfully PB seems to be well guarded in his life with the Prince. Torr still considers tossing him in their meat sack when he starts running his mouth.
Zoh
[ Adoptive Parent ]
Torr has spent a lot of time feeling guilt over the fate of Zoh after he demanded they leave. It's manifested in Torr having a hard time connecting with others, being flighty, and a little uncomfortable with parental situations. It meant more than Torr can verbalize to have their parent back in their life so they were able to spend the last few years Zoh had together. While at peace, Torr misses him terribly and makes a point to visit his grave as often as they can.
