Hollow is a beast summon, a being at the mercy of magic wielders who seek to use his strength for their purposes. He had at one time been a soulless creature occupying the dredges between realms, until he was plucked free by a mage who sought a strong body as a minion. He served his role without thought, following direction blindly, until the mage was killed. However, the spell that killed his Master fractured the mage's soul, splintering it like shards of glass, some of which were drawn into Hollow's body. Devoid of his own soul, these fragments festered within him for a time, slowly growing over time, warping, and reshaping into something--or someone--new. Hollow slowly began to think, and feel, and remember.
But despite his blooming agency, it would not change what he was. His very existence was the result of summoning magic, and thus he could not resist the control of whichever powerful entity summoned him for their bidding.
He is a large, powerful beast who is incredibly strong, fast, and durable. His body will reconstitute damaged tissue swiftly, and he can emit a deafening shriek to buffet or disorient foes. If he's killed, he will not remain dead, but simply disappear until the next time he is summoned. In a sense, his very essence is tied to magic, until the day at someone may choose to free him from the cycle.
Despite what he is, Hollow is not violent or malicious. In reality he is actually rather docile. If given the opportunity, he is curious, affectionate, and easily attached to anyone who shows him kindness. He can speak, although it is incredibly husky and hoarse, so he tends to limit himself to short sentences or phrases.
