- It Big. Big Yokai.
- Name means 'shin rubber', but given this creature's enormous size it is definitely NOT the yokai it claims to be.
- Lives in a secluded bamboo thicket and is often found near the river. Its favorite food is giant river salamanders and riverbed clay.
- Always hungry but very slothful. It wanders at a very slow but steady pace through the bamboo, winding its head from side to side like the movements of a snake; it has a very flexible neck.
- You can tell where it has been in the thicket as its immensely long, heavy tail drags behind it, sweeping a path in the dirt and underbrush as it wanders.
- Has the ability to speak but isn't much of a conversationalist. If you run into it, it will consider you thoughtfully and ask if you have something for it to eat. It prefers meat, clay, or other materials that are foreign to the thicket. It considers coins and paper to be a luxury treat.
- If you do not have food for it, it will eat you instead. Do not try to outrun it, its tail will catch you.
- It can be dissuaded from doing this if you promise to accompany it and catch it a meal. It will bring you to its river home and sit with you while you catch it a fish or salamanders. While perfectly happy to accept raw food, it will be really impressed if you cook it a meal and will not bother you if you re-enter the thicket later.
- In this same vein, yes, you can make and fire some pottery and it will happily eat this also.
- After eating, it will ask if you would like to brush its coat. It will direct you to a nearby tree or log or pile of leaves where you can find a bone handled brush with which to groom it. You can keep any hair or down that you brush out of it, but make sure to put the brush back where you found it afterwards. Failure to do so will result in Sunekosuri following you in the night to eat you in your sleep.
- Surprisingly, despite not carrying the brush on its person, it always conveniently shows up nearby when the creature mentions it wants to be groomed.

- Sunekosuri is very aware of Ayakashi's presence in the thicket, and while it never directly approaches his house, its paths can be found very close by in the thicket around it.
- It likes the way his plants smell and while it never enters the clearing, it will stand on the edge of the thicket and stick its neck out to talk to him if it sees him working in the yard. It likes to snack on his lucky bamboo and pottery. He thinks it is a nuisance.
- It is afraid of the Thicket Deity and shies away from its presence. It is perhaps the only creature that it has not begged food from.
