History

When Cethlenn was younger, she was in a romantic relationship with Avice Pythias, the daughter of a neighboring house. They had promised their lives to each other and that they would always love and be loyal. Cethlenn’s father was a cold and callous lord, who preferred the method of torture to punish the criminal and insubordinate. He made Cethlenn regularly witness the tortuous end of prisoner’s lives and as she grew older, to have more and more of a hand in it. The constant exposure to horrendous acts and treating them as if they were something to take pride in twisted Cethlenn’s psyche. Her lover had noticed the changes that were happening to her, and broke off the relationship between the two of them. This left Cethlenn bitter and vindictive towards her.

War broke out between Cethlenn and Avice’s houses, forcing the two apart. During a battle that led to a disastrous loss, Cethlenn took her lover’s brother and decided that she would subjugate him to a inhumane torture she had only heard rumour of. She left him to suffer for weeks until he finally succumbed and buried his corpse deep beneath the earth in an unmarked grave, somewhere she was sure that he would never be discovered. As the war progresses, Cethlenn holds the unknown of her brother’s death over her head to rub salt in the wounds. There is little of the love she once held for Avice, it is all a game to her now to see what will break her.
