Shankha

He doesn't look it, but Shankha is a rather gentle naga. He's rarely been involved in fights, and he doesn't much care about them either. He's soft spoken unless forced to speak up, and generally keeps to himself. This is probably a remnant of his lonely days- Shankha hasn't had company for most of his life, and isn't used to handling other living beings.

Shankha was the only hatchling of his nest to survive. He doesn't quite remember how he did it, as it happened quite a long time ago. But he does remember that the following months and years of his life consisted of finding a cleft big enough for him to fit, of hunting, and of painful sheds. By the time he couldn't find any crack spacious enough to hide in anymore, he started to realize that he hadn't been sensing any danger for weeks. It was strange, but no one approached him anymore. No hunters, none of his kind. For the next few days, Shankha wondered if he was alone in the world. When he finally did come across another of his kind, and a few humans, something else dawned on him: He had outgrown any being he'd ever met; and so they avoided him. And it kind of hurt. (...at least until he met Yanti and Pasha)

-His greatest fear is loosing the few people that don't mind him
-He'd fight for the sake of his 'family', but would chose an escape over everything
-He believes that everyone else is super easy to break, so he never really looks for physical contact
-the humans from the nearest village know of him, and they like to tell scary tales of the monster serpent lurking in the woods
-they also think he's stealing their sheep (but Shankha doesn't actually eat those, the wool annoys him).
-there have been tries to get rid of him before, all of which are events he'd like to forget.
-he has given up on 'love'
