About
A cunning, 20-something opossum with an affinity for trash that primarily uses he/him pronouns (though he's honestly cool with anything).
Grob is a fan character of the Animal Crossing game series (owned by Nintendo)! Everything written on his page is written as if he is a part of the games, though some things may be slightly different to the game's cannon. As a villager in the early games but later becoming a special character after an absence from a few instalments, Grob is a bit of an enigma when it comes to character typing.
History
Making his debut in Animal Crossing (2001), Grob became pretty popular among fans at the time for his somewhat eccentric disposition and strange obsession with trash. In Grob's first appearance he is depicted as much younger with longer hair resembling a mullet, clean clothes without holes and most notably, he appears on land. In this game Grob is a villager, he can move to and from your island. Whilst he's yet to take to the sea permanently, he often tells the player how he wishes to sail someday and has an ocean-themed home.
Grob goes missing
For reasons later revealed, Grob is absent from all following instalments in the series until his return in New horizons (2020). Whilst he's not physically in the game, Grob is mentioned by a few special characters seemingly making the transition from villager to special character himself. In both WW and CF, Pascal, a special character and otter, briefly mentions "a sea infatuated friend" to whom he compares the player. Other mentions of Grob come from Label, who references having an opossum partner, and Kicks who momentarily reminisces about a friend who used to visit his store and had odd mannerisms.
Grob's return
After seemingly going missing from the series for two whole decades, Grob finally made his return to the franchise in the 2020 game Animal Crossing: New Horizons. His apprence has changed quite a bit compared to his first design. His hair is a lot shorter and his clothes are a completely different style as well as appearing dirty and damaged. It also seems as if his fur colour has gotten significantly more washed out.
Personality-wise, Grob is still the same eccentric trash infatuated opossum we all know and love but seems to be slightly off. He's no longer a villager, having been upgraded to a special character and refuses to step foot on the island. He will, however, set up shop once a month on the dock telling the player that "The dock is as far as I go. I'd much prefer to be on me boat but... I can at least still feel like I'm on the water here". He also visits once a week using his house as a makeshift shop that you can visit. The slight location change is not the only difference between his two types of visits. On days where he uses the dock as a shop, rare and expensive items can be found
Talking to old friends of Grob, it seems as if they're still close. Sometimes you can even find characters like Kicks visiting Grob's houseboat if they happen to arrive on the same day. The only other character Grob has seemingly had a falling out with is Label. The two will not talk about one another, mostly ignoring the other's presence apart from a comment or two by Label, and will not visit each other. Though it's unclear what tore the previous lovebirds apart, it's hinted that the pair may someday reconnect.
Personality
A cranky villager turned salesman, Grob spends the majority of his days with his trash spouse on his aptly named trash boat. Grob may come across as a scheming, conniving and outwardly hateful guy at first but once you get to know him you’ll see his softer side. He’s protective of those he considers dear and whist he perceives himself to be a cunning salesman, he is, in fact, quite the opposite.
Grob will visit islands at least once a week but can visit more if given a call (he can also set up shop behind Harv's island at a discounted price compared to other shops there). He’ll decline any offers to stay on the island with an uncomfortable smile and a nervous twitch. Whilst he won’t tell the player (or even other villagers) the reason why, Grob seems to have an intense fear of staying on land with the dock being as close to land as he's willing to go (during special events like firework nights, he shoots fireworks from his boat and sells discounted sparklers). He much prefers staying on his boat where it’s safe and induces motion sickness in strangers.

Trivia
- Likes money but also, useless items.
- Refuses to pay for anything but Trash.
- Grob is left-handed.
- Lives on a boat (trash boat). Will travel around to find the best pieces of trash. He mostly buys them from others though he may occasionally collect it himself if he finds something special.
- Will not move to your island no matter how much you ask/bribe him.
- Calls others 'buddy'.
- Believes he's scamming you for buying trash at 'such a low price'.
- Has a love-hate relationship with seagulls. Sometimes he feeds them chips and other times they take the chips, that kinda thing. If you ask him about it his answer may be different and depending on the day, he may ramble about his hatred toward them without any questions first.

Design
Notes
- Eye shape changes based on mood but he is always smiling.
- Has claws (optional) they're black and can be thin or chunky.
- Sclera and teeth are an off-white/yellow!
- Long, thick tail.
- Fluffy and scruffy fur/hair!
- Clothes are torn and dirty (he could get new ones but doesn't want to).
- Pupils sometimes change with mood, usually to emphasise an intense emotion.
Trash spouse || Spouse
A pile of trash crudely taped together into a humanoid shape. Trash spouse's design varies heavily! Sometimes she has details like googly eyes and other times he has various pieces of clothing. So, basically, go wild. Grob's story of how he met his spouse seems to be different every time he's asked. Trash spouse lives on the back of Grob's boat and is also occasionally referred to as 'trash wife' or 'trash husband'.
Redd || Rival salesman
Having met through Tom Nook, the two salesmen don't know each other very well but that doesn't stop them from having a rivalry. If the two of them happen to visit on the same day they can be seen glaring at each other from their boats and will deliver jabs at each other through dialogue to the player.
Flick || Friend
Flick and Grob are relatively new friends, having met whilst visiting islands. The two are unlikely friends, leading different lives and having completely different styles but they seem to get on pretty well. Flick is another special character that can be found hanging out on Grob's boat.
Pascal || Friend
Revealed through small snippets of dialogue, the two characters met on the sea during Grob's travels. According to the pair's stories, Grob would trade Pascal the scallops he came across in return for treasures and they eventually became friends. Pascal would often hop on board to chat.
Kicks || Friend
Kicks seems to have Grob for quite a while and would talk about him all the way back in City Folk. They don't seem to be as close anymore but still chat and hang out when visiting.
Harvey || College friend
Harvey was Grob's first friend when he went to college and is also responsible for introducing him to Label. The pair's relationship is pretty chill and Grob occasionally promotes his friend's photography studio whilst also recommending his island for other sellers.
Label || Ex-girlfriend
Though it may be surprising to some, Grob has actually had a relationship before trash spouse. He and Label met in college through their mutual friend Harvey. They weren't too interested in each other at first but after attending a few of Harv's parties and getting to talk more, they became close and started dating after developing feelings for each other. In present times, Grob tends to pretend she doesn't exist and vice versa. Though it's alluded to through various dialogues, that maybe one day they can reconnect and work their way through their mysterious breakup.
Tom Nook || Acquaintance
Grob knows very little about Tom Nook apart from the fact that he seems to run everything. He appears to be a little intimidated by Nook, often feeling he cannot escape the tanuki's stare.
