god of Dreams n god of Nightmares were chilling n were friends right
also their work is related so fun
all gods are technically immortal but can die if they dont fulfill some 'requirements' right [fortune-sacrifices, misfortune-get rich tm]
so dream visits dreams of humans [especially kids] and 'feed' off their positive dreams, check if everythings ok n shit
nightmare's job is to visit nightmares of people to make sure theyre also going ok [gotta have some nightmares in your life too] and if a human experiences sleep paralysis they try to cut it short cuz that shit sucks
they feed off negative energy [and kinda cancel it too]
dream can shape dreams of people, give ppl ideas, create clouds n sparkles n small illusions [childrens imaginary friends are their creations]
nightmare can summon and repel shadow creatures [monster in a closet/under your bed for example] and create stuff using dark 'clouds' [2nd pic]
at some point nightmare lost their corporeal body and dream was like :(( !! oh shit they cant really control nightmares now so they offered to kinda share their body w/nightmare
nightmare can leave dream's body [they look like a smokey spirit thing w/ glowing white eyes and cannot be touched but they can do the lesser parts of their job]
sharing one body results in dark patches on dream's skin [they disappear when nightmare leaves]
they have two minds and their thoughts are private, unless they want to communicate - they can talk to each other anytime if they only wish
nightmare has some level of control over dream's body when they're sharing!
if dream doesnt want to share, nightmare can like only slightly annoy dream [push off smth instead of grabbing it, making it difficult to stand up if they're sitting etc]
on the other hand dream can give nightmare full control and just watch what night's doing [they have very diffirent voices n they act diffirent so other gods usually have no problem telling who's in control]
together they're gods of sleep
after decades/hundreds of years of being together they're absolute best friends
also also if they want some privacy one of them can go to sleep inside the body
dream wants sum privacy for some reason? nightmare can 'shut off'/sleep or leave the body
nightmare wants privacy? dream can shut off
they're both aware of when the other one is awake
