💎 Nereida 💎

Nereida was born out of the rare union of a legendary and a mortal. Her mother, Ho-oh; The deity of resurrection; died shortly after she was born, so her father; a simple Lapras fisherman; was left to raise her alone. Despite never knowing her mother outside of the stories her father would tell, Nereida’s childhood on the small island chain they called home was happy. Her heritage was kept as a secret from the other islanders, until it started to become apparent that she wasn’t aging past her late 20’s.

She was soon declared to be a new legendary, and was expected to take her mother’s place as the patron deity and guardian of the islands. Nereida was hesitant, but accepted her new position out of a sense of duty. However, being worshipped as a god quickly became overwhelming, and as her father and her old friends began to die of old age and illness, she chose to leave the isles in search of a normal life.

Life away from her childhood home proved difficult. She spent centuries moving from place to place, going by different names and identities, leaving just before her lack of aging became noticeable. This cycle of arriving, growing close to people and then inevitably leaving has left her incredibly lonely and unsure of who she is behind all of her facades.

Currently, she’s living as Nereida North, shiny Lapras and secretary to the mayor of a small port town with an unusually high population of legendaries (more than one or two being in any place at the same time being practically unheard of). She’s generally reserved, not wanting to put herself in the centre of attention, but always has a smile or shoulder to cry on for those who truly need it. Unfortunately, she's developed a reputation for being a bit of a pushover, despite how quick she is to speak out if something goes against her morals.
