Personality: Upon first meeting Shikai, most would assume that he is simply another “tough guy” hero student, and that would be mostly correct. Shikai keeps his guard up when meeting new people and can act aggressive towards them if he thinks that they’re trying to degrade or insult him, this behaviour tripling in intensity if he hates this particular person. However, when he gets used to someone and considers them a friend, it’s like a switch flips and his protective walls come down. Instantly, he’s a lot brighter and kinder, more willing to laugh and smile and have fun, but this also reveals his more sensitive side. He’s quick to feel bad if he accidentally hurts someone he likes, apologising profusely until he knows they’re okay. His anxiety issues also become more prominent when his guard is down, his coping mechanisms easy to see if you look for them whenever he’s in a stressful situation. If Shikai considers you a best friend, his softer side is very much his real personality, revealing his desire for comfort - both giving and receiving it. He has a strong “big brother” complex, often subconsciously protecting those younger and smaller than him from any kind of harm.

Overall Abilities: Shikai is considered to be a formidable force, able to endure and deflect attacks as well as utilising his entire body and surroundings to make his own attacks more powerful. He keeps his body in good shape, always wanting to be at peak condition to fight at the best of his ability.
⠀Hand-to-hand Combat: Shikai has trained for most of his life in Taekwondo, a Korean martial art, in which he holds a 2nd dan black belt. In order to have gained this belt, he has undergone numerous tests and many years to hone his skills. Taekwondo is a martial art characterised by its emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks, and fast kicking techniques, as well as self-defence techniques. While theory of power that comes with it is speed is more important than size in terms of generating power, Shikai does use his physical strength to his advantage in combat.
⠀Quirk: Western Dragon - A Mutation Quirk, Western Dragon gives Shikai the appearance of a typical Western world depiction of a dragon - four limbs and a pair of wings. Most of his body is covered in red scales and darker red scale “plates”, acting as a natural armour made from keratin that is quite fire resistant. They possess a slightly iridescent quality and can be removed/torn out with enough damage, and will regrow within a few days. Occasionally, Shikai will grow golden scales which possess a greater protective quality. These scales do not cover his entire body, as there are large patches of skin (most notably his neck and chest) that are just natural and blank - however, Shikai predicts that as he grows older his scales will cover his body, as when he was young only his extremities (hands, feet and head, along with a small portion of his back) were covered in scales. Like the folklore and fairytales suggest, Shikai does have the ability to breathe fire in a reaction similar to the bombardier beetle, however the chemical production, reaction and produced heat can damage him internally if used too much and drain his reserves of energy, only using it in emergencies. He can also produce smoke from his mouth at a much less damaging rate than his fire. He has full control over his “extra” limbs, able to move and use his tail to hit and move things, but it isn’t extremely prehensile. His wings allow him flight, which he is quite skilled at, however he cannot carry more than his own body weight for too long.

Additional Notes: Shikai is bisexual, and I would be perfectly happy to see him romantically with any other similarly-aged character (i.e. other students in their first or second year in high school). Personally I ship him the most with Tokoyami, but I am more than happy for other pairings to happen.
