⇀ Backstory

All alone, in a place separated from reality. That was his first memory, a memory that was laced with feelings of loss and loneliness. He never knew his parents, he never had the upbringing with a parent the way a child was supposed to. But he survived the way he could, used whatever means necessary to continue living in a world that was so hostile to him.
He had unnatural coloring, looked slightly different than the others of his kind. That was fine; he needed something that was able to help distinguish himself from a place where normality and sameness was desired, sought after.

He killed once. And then he did so again. Somehow, it was a behavior that occurred naturally, embedding itself deep within him and influenced his actions. He was a moody, aggressive creature, something that would be labeled as a monster in the human world.
But he was in his own universe, a mindset of his own that he did not share with anyone. Killing did not make him feel better, but it allowed him to survive, and gave him the satisfaction of living a day longer. That was all he needed, all he wanted.

Like a typical, stereotypical villain, he didn't know his place in the world. He tried and tried to find out, but it just wasn't working for him the way he wanted it to. He was never able to find a foothold, hoist himself up, and build a foundation for himself to continue building off of. He was a free spirit, chained only by his thoughts and what emotions he had left within himself.
Even now, in the present, he still doesn't know himself as well as he thought he did. He still has trouble with himself, with wondering where he fits in the puzzle that is society, how to label himself, everything about himself and civilization.

As he grew older, he grew wiser; his destructive actions became fewer, more spread apart, strategic. He ate less, eating only when was necessary to lessen the amount of body fat he had and maximize his muscle mass. And, for a time, he was proud of himself. He was able to take reign over his malicious intentions and use certain outlets to help him cope with them.

He taught himself everything, learned what to and what not to eat, what was toxic to him and what wasn't, and learned several languages over the course of his life. That was another thing, his lifespan. It confused him. Was he immortal? Could he age, but just at a much slower pace than was normal for his species? His head hurt.

When he first found the first signs of civilization other than the prey he naturally hunted, he couldn't comprehend what he was seeing. It was absurd to him to think there were actually other sentient beings on his version of Hell; he thought he had been the only one. So naturally, he had approached the beings cautiously, wary of them and the possible damage they would have been able to do to him.

Likewise, they had never seen anything like Elthras before; the creature he was, he wasn't a typical species to be living and thriving on their own land. They took him in against his will, taught him how to speak, to communicate with others in their own tongue, manipulating his words to appeal to the masses. In spite of his recklessness and his odd behavior towards these creatures, he learned and took in everything they showed him, and he went off on his own.

For years, Elthras survived, until he came in contact with a version of himself he never knew until it awoke. A manifestation of his inner feelings, of the emotions he never let rise to the surface, a human. Like the ones he encountered before, he was cautious around this new manifestation before him, but it proved to be weaker than him, something connected to him in a way he could not explain.
The two cared for each other, realizing that without one, the other would simply cease to exist. The bond and protection they provided for each other allowed them to bond in ways that the norm would have trouble understanding.
Joined as one, each manifestation is able to arise whenever it wants, with the consent of the other. In many cases, both manifestations exist together on the same plane, unable to explain how they're able to do so.

Elthras lives now, still in uneasiness of who exactly he is, but it's easier for him to recognize and try to fix his mistakes. He doesn't like to admit he does have emotions, but he gets in touch with them on occasion, if only to prevent himself from becoming the monster that he was in his past.
