⨳ intimidating, and cold, to those he's not close to, he errs on the side of formality more often than not. he's used to getting sideways glances, and others avoiding him, due to the role he's played most of his life. a keeper of the dead is...uncomfortable for the living, he's learned. he enjoys spending time on his own, in quiet dark places, and loves deep caverns the best for solitude. he does enjoy the sun, despite any rumors that may have surrounded him back home, and can occasionally be found basking in the dawn before retreating to the shadows he knows best. there are few who can get through the icy, formal, walls he's protected himself with, mostly close family. 

⨳ deep under the surface, protected by metaphoric walls of ice and stone lies a true, softer, self. a man who loves the sun, and the beauty of the world, who is filled to the brim with sass and playful banter, and a bitterness toward the past he cannot pinpoint as his own, or that of his namesake. 

⨳ born aïdōneús (ἀϊδωνεύς), renamed at six months in line with the general family traditions. when he and his brothers became of age, zeus took over ruling the kingdom and portioned it out to them, with hades left in charge of the deep caverns where they both imprisoned the worst of their threats, and "sent their dead home". he and the others were displaced when the central (volcanic) mountain erupted and ravaged their homeland.
