Rykelle
Rykelle is one of few commoners chosen by the Council to become a squire. Short even for his age, and scrawny to boot, many don't understand what the Emperor saw in him. However, he has a fierce determination and a sharp mind. He wishes to prove himself worthy of the faith the Emperor showed in him, and do his family proud. He has his work cut out for him.

As Rykelle grows older, they follow an unofficial mentor down the path of the Tower. They shed their gender. They come to realize the terrible price of absolute strength, and the heavy responsibility that comes with it. They become quiet and secretive. They grow to believe that the ends justify the means.
