Laurence was a very young boy when he'd lost his parents and Willem found him alone in the woods. He took him to the school that he taught at, and where a number of other orphans had been taken, and became very close friends with another boy named Micolash. The two of them broke into a mysterious lonely door one day, which brought them to the lab of an even more mysterious alien named Deoxys.
Deoxys basically raised the two kids, all of them and Willem working together on their primal energy research. However, Laurence's ideas began to out pace Willem and Deoxys. He left them, taking Micolash with him, and with the help of a Kabutops they formed their own lab for their own research.
One day, Micolash disappeared. And in his wake was a strange alien. Using it, Laurence crafted a terrifying beast that, upon Laurence's death, had to be restrained and locked forever in the since-abandoned lab.
Laurence no longer lives, and his soul was shredded upon death.
