Karnem

The sun god of an ancient pantheon once worshiped by a long-dead civilization. His religion was considered pagan by the Church of Light, his devotees thus converted or otherwise persecuted during the expansions of Harmonia, when the nation was still an empire.

A being that survives on the belief of his followers, Karnem’s power was proportional to their faith. As such, the decline of his church was the beginning of his own demise. Once a widespread religion, it dwindled by the age to a worship by sects, cults, families, until Karnem was left with a scattered handful of believers. Some of his practices and traditions were also absorbed by the Goddess’ faith, their continued usage allowing him to survive with a little more power despite the fact they weren’t offered directly to him or celebrated in his name. He’s persisted on these scraps, no better than a beggar.

Throughout those eras, Karnem was ever in the care of those faithful: an idol sheltered and provided for. But now he’s alone, searching both for his missing sibling and counterpart -- a goddess of night -- and ways to restore them.
