Val is an extremely childish and violent person, entering SBURB at a very young age and being influenced by the aggressive nature of the game. Through these experiences and being manipulated by bad people, they betrayed their session and sabotaged their teammates. Despite largely moving past that and (somewhat) re-earning the trust of their team again, these tendencies never really went away. A large factor in their betrayal is meeting RD, which lead to them believing RD was their "fated future". Unable to believe otherwise, Val joined KC's force in order to fulfill their purpose and enact the violence they were destined to start (with no doubt help from KC himself).
RD is the alternate timeline iteration of Val, manifesting herself within the post-scratch universe, is the General of KC's army, and in close relation to EM. Convinced to join the movement, RD takes her job seriously and believes that their cause is worth any questionable actions they need to take. Her daughter, Ann, is a driving factor for winning this war as she wants to give her a peaceful life. While her intentions are fairly pure, her violence and cruelty on the battlefield undoubtedly will be remembered.
