Backstory:

Tundra was born in an arctic facility as a 4th generation, now much more tame than some of the other bucks. He was more sturdy too, and adaptable to different climates even though his coat was primarily bred to withstand sub zero temperatures. Growing up, he was a shy buck who had only a few close friends. But as he got older, his personality became a bit more open and he started to learn how to interact with other bucks. However, he soon faced mandatory enlistment into the military, and was relocated to another training facility that specifically dealt with bucks made for colder climates. He faced many challenges there, befriending a couple more trainees and finding his standing in relation to others. He still had a rather reserved nature, but the finding his strengths made him more confident.

After his training, he was meant to enter the Alaskan troops for close line defense. But he caught the eye of American officials who have been recruiting bucks for a special unit that combined many skill sets and types of bucks into one troop that would be sent to the front lines, and able to adapt to any circumstances or attacks and territories. Tundra became one of these candidates, and eventually joined the same unit as Troy. It was there he found his true friends, as all of them went through the same experiences together and became closer through the grit and hardships of their battles. He especially became closer to Troy, as he was the first one to approach him and coax him out of his shell. Tundra became more vibrant, friendly, protective, and fun towards his troop members, still holding some of that shy nature but becoming less closed off.

However, during one of their missions, Tundra was captured by enemy bucks and was thrown into a cell with no food or water, sent to be tortured to reveal the names and locations of his team mates and the camps. But Tundra would not say anything, enduring the pain and the mind shattering torture as he clung on to the only thing that kept him going, his friends. Then one night, the enemy camp was raided and Tundra used this opportunity to escape and traipse through the wild alone in search of his troop. But when he came back to the camp, he found that both his military base and his friends had disappeared, presumed killed in action. That moment completely broke him as he searched for any signs that they might still be alive. He started traveling on his own, becoming a loner and a nomad who drifted from place to place in any hopes of finding his platoon. But after years of searching, he just gave up and resigned to his fate. He closed off again, became more quiet and unwilling to trust, and spent most of his days cataloguing the Wild or helping small villages with any issues they had.

But then one day, he decided to return to the site of his fallen comrades to mourn, and comes across Troy who had also arrived for the anniversary of their fallen friends. Tundra was overcome with so much emotion and joy in that singular moment, however he soon realizes Troy does not recognize him since he had experienced so much trauma which forced his memories to be sealed. But even though Tundra and Troy did not grow as close in the past, Tundra still had feelings for Troy back from their military days after Troy gave him the motivation to open up. Troy used to give kind gestures like head nuzzles or small olive branches that may have seemed normal to him, but meant everything to Tundra. So even though Troy didn’t remember him, Tundra recognizes Troy and attempts to get to know him better nonetheless. They return to Troy’s camp and the behest of Tundra offering his assistance, and the camp slowly welcomes Tundra into their home. He continually hangs out with Troy, going on walks with him, meditating in nature, watching butterflies, and swimming in the nearby waterfalls to bring Troy more into his life as he failed to do before. It was here he falls in love with Troy for who he is and slowly builds back up the person he was before, finding happiness in their little patch of the world.
