ABOUT
Kione considers herself to be "raised by the streets." Growing up, she was truant in her studies, instead of spending her days in school more often than not she could be found hanging out around the city or at a friend's place. Despite her lack of book smarts, she was a quick learner with the street smarts to deftly navigate the inner city. She was assimilated into the Tenth Street Reds as a teen. There, she learned to hold her own in a fight, swindle, and extort, quickly racking up an impressive juvenile record.
The sudden arrest of her mother caught her before the law did, however. She was plucked up as a ward of the state, and her tumultuous teenage years were spent in a city group home where she raised hell for the staff. She routinely would slip out—doing tasks for the Reds or to find solace away from the home— missing for days until she was caught and dragged back to face the consequences of her escapades. She generally got along with most of the girls in the home, as she was quite the fast-talker, even taking on something of a leadership role. Those who didn't agree with her charge were swiftly snuffed into silence, much to the chagrin of the staff.
At 17 she made her big escape, planning to disappear from the home entirely, abandon the Reds, and stay low so to not get pinged by the law. She was hired through the back door at a club and used that as her main source of income. "Dancing," she calls it, trying not to be shamed of the things she did to keep herself warm and fed. Despite her desire to keep a low profile, the Reds contacted her and bid her to pay her dues to the gang. With troubles mounting, she found her ticket out of the slums in a man named David Anderson, who believed a street kid could make something of herself, even if she didn't believe it herself.
The day she turned 18, she joined up with the Alliance, leaving her old life behind... or so she thought.

Traits
SOCIAL
She's a risk-prone individual, sometimes failing to take long-term consequences into account. She'd rather fly by the seat of her pants in the heat of the moment than fall back to regroup, but the structured life of the military doesn't bode well for risk takers and those don't have the discipline to comply with orders. The idea of following a chain of command never particularly appealed to her, but in time she learned to work with the system in order to advance her herself and her abilities. Lucky for her, now she has command of her very own ship.
Through the years, she's learned to be more responsible, to take calculated risks. Still, she takes her fair share of daring maneuvers, especially with the future of the galaxy at stake.
BOLD
She cares not for the plights of others; her world centers around herself and the very few she cares about. Her inflated ego comes not from a place of true ego, but is a result of her sheltered life at Candlekeep and consequential disillusionment when thrust suddenly upon the world. Her already haughty personality did her no favors in her interactions and her behaviors became magnified tenfold as she began to perceive the general population as trite and witless.
AUTHENTIC
She doesn't dilute her vivacious, cheeky personality or her opinions. This has a polarizing effect. Either people like her or they don't. Towards her friends, she is doting and pulls them along for fun-filled shore leaves, either to take a load off and relax or to have a good time. Towards strangers... her disposition widely varies depending on whether she likes them or not.
PERSISTENT
She would consider persistency and endurance to be her most important qualities. They're what have gotten her through her life's biggest hurdles and she wouldn't be where she is today had she let the weight of the world collapse upon her despite the many times she felt alone in a caustic world. She found her own way while her mother wasted away under a spell of drugs and Johns. When she was taken from everything she knew and ran away to find a new future for herself, she may have faltered along the way but she stubbornly planted one foot in front of the other. Her feelings on her years on earth are a tangled web, but they made her who she is and she can at least appreciate that.
