This character is part of a cyberpunk story, which contains worldbuilding that may hit close to home in our late stage capitalist hellscape.

I don't go into descriptive detail in their backstories here, but the ideas are firmly present.  I would consider this cast of characters "PG-13" at the very least.

Carmichael specifically is an android, which are corporate products in this setting.  Thus, he was previously owned by someone, and spends the plot largely working through that.
