PAAVALI ABOUT ORRINO--

Paavali appreciates everything that Orrino does for him, and tries to make sure that Orrino does not feel taken advantage of. He finds it very difficult to not feel like a burden on Orrino, even when assured otherwise (especially driven by the fact other people are sure to make nasty comments and gossip in Paavi's direction). He is not quick to be particularly fussy about comments towards himself, but if anyone tries to harm Orrino he will most certainly take matters into his own hands. And he is not afraid to get into fights, and people gravely underestimate him in fights.
Paavi has a very difficult time doing a lot of things on his own, but what he /can/ do on his own he will do himself. As a result he makes a living with hands-on crafts such as sculpting, painting, and sewing. He sells the things he makes and always ensures to be able to pay Orrino for his service to him.
He does take comfort in the fact that a lot of richer folks will make their servants do everything for them purely out of laziness, while Paavi actually does require the assistance he gets from Orrino. He appreciates his assistant and dear friend Orrino, and his soft fur.

Orrino does not consider taking care of Paavali to be a burden, and appreciates his employment from the sweet former pirate. He doesn't mind caring for Paavi, it gives him something to do with his life, and having an employer whose company he enjoys is not easy to come by.
Orrino is relatively mild-mannered and disinclined to bother with acknowledging people who speak poorly of himself or Paavi. He does find it incredibly frustrating when people make nasty comments about about his friend, and will speak up if it seems necessary or safe enough, but would rather avoid making a scene.
He appreciates his employer and friend, and will gladly let him touch the soft fur--a privilege not everyone gets.
