Can be blunt at times. Tends to become too focused on things especially work related things. When not stressed or angry she is a rather nice young woman. But she doesn't take any shit from others. She can be stubborn when someone is trying to change her mind. But when she warms up to someone she tends to be a little more open and relaxed around them.
Backstory:
Left on the doorstep of an orphanage is how Gretchen started out her life. She knew nothing about her parents or where she even came from. All she knew was her first name. As she grew the traits of a nurse were already in her. She would usually try to leap into action and help any of the other children if they got hurt or sick. She thought to them all like her family. Which made them being adopted hard on her. It caused her to sabotage any chance of being adopted as she grew. When she turned 14 not many wanted her since everyone wanted a younger child. One day an older man came in. He wanted to adopt Gretchen. Despite her best efforts she couldn't persuade this man to not adopt her. So she was taken away from the only home she had known. Which made her very unhappy. She was taken to a new home. It was large and creepy looking. The old man lead her around and also to her room. The place was filled with strange things which suited this strange old man. Over the time she spent there she slowly found out more about the old man. Firstly that his name was Joe Devitto and he was a doctor. He had clients come to his home a lot of the time which let Gretchen see how people are treated. Most of the time she would spy on him. Slowly she began to warm up to Joe and living with him wasn't so bad. He was just a lonely old man who wanted come company she learned. So she decided to stick around.
She began to take medical practice a bit more serious as she grew in his house. He taught her a few things and she began to read books. That set her on the path to become a nurse. She spent most of her teen years studying. Though she did have a few fun times. But she liked to keep herself focused. Finally after she finished high school and got into college her dream was starting to come true. Though when she reached college she found out something about Joe. He had been marked as a unrefined doctor due to him treating all type of patients. At first Gretchen didn't understand what they all meant by that so when she tried to stick up for Joe everyone singled her out. Her college years were lonely. But it never let her give up studies and she passed with flying colours. When she started to find a job the name Devitto was a curse in the medical world and she never found anything. It was difficult for her because they never seemed to give her a chance. So when a placement for a hospital appeared to her one day she applied but put a different last name.
When she got the job and started her first day she was shocked to find out that it was a monster hospital that she was going to be working at. She knew nothing about monsters and their medical history. But this place was desperate for staff so she stuck to it. Her first few months were tough and many mistakes were made by her. She finally got frustrated with herself and began to hit the books again but this time for monsters. This was when she began to hear the rumor about Joe again. She came across a newspaper article one day about Joe. It was about what he had done. When Joe was young he took in monster patients when he wasn't suppose to. Due to that he was fired from the hospital. So he started his own little private practice where anyone was welcome. Of course many didn't like this but Joe never stopped providing this for others. Gretchen couldn't help but love hearing this. It was truly how a doctor should act. The story of Joe's journey was a driving force for her to study more about monsters. Soon she began to put her studies into practice. Her talent took over as more heard about her along with how well she was at being a monster nurse. Now she is confident in her abilities and loves what she does.
