Despite being only 13-14, Kai is very much an old man at heart. He rather study and learn how Pokemon and the world works than to run into a fight. He tries to keep a rational head on his shoulders, but very much is prone to emotional outbursts and outright confusion thanks to his young age. Despite being used to being looked up to, he rather be the one relying on someone older than him. Despite his snippy comments, he deeply cares about others, and puts up with a lot of stupid choices others make to make sure they don't get in over their head.
- Has 5 siblings all together. He is the second oldest.
- His name is taken from the Hawaiian version of Kai, meaning "Sea". His last name is taken from Järvi, meaning "Lake" in Finnish.
- His Pokemon Team consists of Mimi the Furret, Cheese the Charmander, Rai the Raichu, and Copper the Eevee.

Kai is the second oldest child in his family, and when his parents were busy trying to keep the house afloat, he and his sister ran the place and kept care of their younger siblings. That duty eventually was left to only him once his sister had decided to start her Pokemon quest finally and left their home on the Sevii Islands. This left Kai to run the place on his own at a young age. Once his parents were able to comfortably stay home more and watch his younger siblings, he took the chance to start his own journey.
His journey was to learn and study Pokemon so that he could become a great Pokemon Researcher. It was during his travels he had ran into the Pokemon trainer Lex, who gladly took him under her wing. As they discovered the world around them, Lex took the time to encourage Kai to discover who he was as well, which eventually lead her to discovering that those part of his family bloodline have special abilities. Unfortunately Kai at the time didn't have his, being a very late bloomer. It wasn't until later on the travels did he gain the ability to transform his arms into black-like scales and fingers full of venom. He very much hides this part of himself, knowing not only was it wrong and weird for any human to have that, but that it was dangerous.
