Professor Reed’s Log: 

(Subject 073-B also called “The wanderer”)

It’s  rare that one of our subjects actually comes here by themselves, but  this one did...although it seems not on purpose. It was in the middle of  the night a few weeks ago when this boy knocked on of the nurse  entrances at the backside of the institute. One of the nurses opened him  and welcomed him inside to shield him of the harsh rain on the outside.  The nurse reported later that this boy talked to her, but she couldn’t  understand what he was saying. Just a few minutes later I was informed  of our new guest. We offered him a warm bed and shelter for the night  telling him that we would help him the best we can. I, of course, hoped  that he would stay a while, because I was almost certain that he was a  new arrival not only to this institute but maybe to our world as well. 

The  boy quickly fell asleep and I used that circumstance to further examine  him. I refer to him as a boy, but I can’t really tell what age he  actually has. In human years he would look like a young man around 18-20  years old. He looks to be fully human, however the only feature that  seems to counter that theory are the horns emerging from the left and  right side of his head. The underside of these horns are black while the  inside has a blue hue, however sometimes it slightly shifts either to a  teal color or to a more purple one. My first assumption would be, that  this blue color changes slightly according to the emotional state of the  boy but this is only theory as of now. To my disgrace I only noticed  later on that a tail growing from his lower spine actually further  counters the human image. At first glance he could fit some of the demon  races inhabiting this world and I firmly believed that I could find a  relative race to him here…but that would be proven wrong as I first  heard him speak in the morning. 

The boy awoke  early. He did not show any signs of anxiety or confusion, he seems to be  perfectly calm all the time. The language this boy uses resembles  nothing I ever heard, however I’m not familiar with all the different  languages spoken among demon folk, so I have to do further investigation  on that matter. However, none of my staff (be it demon or not) can  understand his language either, so it’s difficult to find out what he  actually wants. I haven’t mentioned it before but the boy carries a  skull with him every time, he clutches it really, something a child  would do with a teddybear. Me, as well as my nurses tried several times  to get a hand on that skull to examine it further, with no luck. This is  the only time the boy shows any emotion at all, he gets furious if  somebody even asks him about the skull. Sometimes, when he feels  unnoticed, I could hear the boy talking to the skull softly, so I assume  that it must be someone he knew when the skull still belonged to a  breathing body…maybe a relative or even a lover. 

To  our surprise, the boy still stays in the institute. I gathered enough  info and watched him enough to theorize that he is seeking something or  someone, but he seems to need help in doing so. And while we try to find  a way to understand him, the boy always stays calm, clutches the skull  in his hands and waits patiently so that he can continue to reach his  goal.
