shapeshifter, shadowy magic user who's the true evildoer behind the scenes

There's rumors, whispered in taverns and villages, that Malorin isn't the only danger hiding out there in the world. Malorin may have destroyed kingdoms, and the dragons may have attempted to kill a king, but someone else hides in the darkness, causing quiet trouble wherever they go and passing unseen through the world. No one can quite decide on what this mysterious being looks like, or acts like, but they all know that there's good reason to stay far away when the name Vin is mentioned.

Vin, for his part, is quite glad to let the people talk. There's enough conflicting stories out there that it interferes with his work not at all. He's a shapeshifter, a master of accents and fake names. If he wants to be someone else, he can. 

He's been in Silvarum since the founding days - gone up and down the winding paths of time several times over (without the Blue of time travel, even, which is quite unique). Vin works out of spite. He wanted to be the greatest, knew he was, and because of his ambition he was cast out. Well, that suits him just fine. There's other beings out there he can whisper to, convince to do his work for him. Malorin is simply his greatest experiment.
