Eveningstar was a confident, outspoken molly who was firm in her belief in both the stars and her fellow cats. She was a phenominal leader, that is until she fell from one of the peaks, injuring herself before having to be pulled out of the tide below. After that she was never the same. She heard whispers, saw things that weren't there, became isolated and preferred to sit in her den than to talk with her fellow clanmates. Most duties fell to oriolenose, who slowly began to resent that he was doing everything a leader was without the title.

Eveningstar didn't understand the extent of her paranoia, the whispers she believes to be are her ancestors, and she believes they tell her good things. Regardless of whether they're good or not. She yells at things that aren't there and claws at the walls of her den. She's become unkempt and unruly, something oriolenose is desperate to reveal to the clan. If it weren't for witheredwolf and her insistance that he should wait he would have revealed her deterioriating condition far earlier.

Oriolenose grows tired of waiting and takes things into his own hands. His initial attempt to kill eveningstar was through releasing foxes upon the clan, leading them to the dens and letting them snap up his clanmates like sitting ducks. Eveningstar escaped death, but oriolenose vows she won't escape it a second time. He brings her food, and decides to do things the old fashioned way, and murders her in her sleep. With the evidence of his involvement washed away in the tide he steps up to claim his position as leader.
