PERSONALITY

Despite what has happened to her she is still a sweet, quiet soul. Having been essentially in servitude for most of her life means that she is prone more to saying "yes" than "no." However, thanks to a certain someone, she is learning to assert herself more and more. Thanks to her role as a Warrior of Light she has learned to be strong for herself as well as others. Kalyda asks for very little and requires very little, yet there is still something in her heart she yearns for that she cannot even put into words. At night she sings to the moon while floating, carefree, in a magical pool of water and it is there that she feels most at home. Do not assume she can't be violent or protect herself; whether because of her influence or her own fear and memories of the past, she has a tendency towards violence when pushed into a corner. Word to the wise: Do not push her into a corner.

HISTORY

Being from the Ejinn tribe meant that any migration she did was underwater, and from a child into her adulthood she found that swimming under the water was something she enjoyed thoroughly. The water was calm and cool, and far less dangerous than the upper world. The sun seemed harsh against her skin but the moon that came out at night was like an extension of the water she swam in. One night, as a child, she swam up to the surface to feel the moonlight against her skin. Kalyda had strayed too far from the rest of her tribe and though she wasn't lost, she was still too far for comfort. There was something on the shore that caught her attention, however; a fire surrounded by Highlander men and their caravan of animals. Though she hid behind a rock while in the water, one of the chocobos spotted her and gave away her location. The men lured her out of the water with the promise of food and warmth--something she didn't mind as the water would occasionally become even too cold for her--and so she left the security of the deep lake and ate with the men. She understood very little of what they talked about but the meat they gave her was good, and as she got up to leave they said

"You're going to pay us back for that, right?"

Confused, she told them she didn't know how to pay them back. They told her it was alright and that they knew exactly how she could pay them back. The men took her to the nearest town where they proceeded to rape her. Details aside, they refused to let her leave and held her essentially hostage for years, doing with her what they wanted. As she grew up they allowed her a bit more freedom to swim in whatever body of water was nearby and she was thankful for the reprieve of their disgusting, prying eyes since the water calmed her. It was one such moonlit night where she swam in the dark water that she saw a beautiful Xaela woman kill a man with ease and take his life force. This night changed her life forever...

APPEARANCE

Being from the Ejinn tribe means their coloring is more subdued, but her birth was special in that her eyes were so uniquely bright and stood out in the dark, murky water her tribe tended to migrate in. Her hair is a dark navy blue that blends into the deeper parts of the water easily. Her skin is a pale, watered tan color that would have normally been much paler had it not been for her being held captive by Highlander's. Still, her skin is a light, watered tan color that will never get much darker. Lastly, her eyes are a beautiful shade of green-blue with light sky blue limbral ring. When she wants to disappear into the abyss of the water she can do so effectively, but all you may see are her eyes that are bright as the early morning sky.

Trivia

  • "Kalyda" means warm and loving.
  • No longer feeling she can return to her tribe, she changed her last name to Vritra so as to start a new life.
