♦ Birth of the Warden

azima (ah-zee-mah) n.
protector, resolution, purpose, charm.

Calista was originally brought into the world as Azima Sener — named after the keeper of the sun and goddess of inquiry, Azeyma the Warden. The blood of the proud alchemists of House Sener from Uznair runs in her veins and she was born in the capital city of Radz-at-Han in Thavnair, shortly after her father, Rohan Sener, ended ties with the house to start a new life with Anora, a beautiful dancer hailing from Ul'dah.

Growing up as an only child, Calista initially dreamed of becoming a renowned dancer like her mother and was directed to the tutelage of a traveling group of Thavnairian dancers known as Troupe Falsiam. Having bore witness to Calista's gift for dance improvisation, the troupe sought to nurture her talents further in the hopes of her mastering the Kriegstanz, a martial yet elegant style of dance used to combat the destructive power of its counterpart the Totentanz, also known as the dance of the damned.

As she invested more of her time and attention towards the troupe, Calista's parents often traveled to Ul'dah with her father regularly attending the symposiums conducted at Frondale's Phrontistery despite his frail health.

With her family constantly away from home, Calista spent most of her adolescent years on her own, occasionally perusing her father's notes and alchemy books out of curiosity to distract herself from the silence of an empty house.

♦ Journey to Thanalan

Calista's life takes an unforeseeable turn when tragedy befalls her parents at sea. Mistaking their homebound ship for a Garlean transport en route to Thavnair, a band of pirates operating under the failed Galadion Accord infiltrated and ransacked the ship outside Lominsan waters, leaving no survivors in the aftermath.

As a result of the tragic events, Calista withdrew from the troupe she once considered a second family and swore to the Twelve she would not find peace until the day she exacts her revenge upon the rogue pirates responsible for her parents' deaths.

Tristan Lumieres, a Sharlayan alchemist of sixty-three summers, sought to bring the orphaned dancer under his custody upon receiving word of the news. A trusted friend and confidant of Rohan's, Tristan was a well-respected scholar and a leading contributor in the seminars her father used to attend to back in Ul'dah.

♦ Way of the Alchemist

As Calista adjusted to her new life in Thanalan, she took a newfound interest in alchemy after Tristan shared with her stories of his time in the phrontistery and decided to dabble in transmutations under his tutelage. Calista eventually came to be known as the flower alchemist due to her preference in using flowers and different species of flora for her alchemical creations.

With nothing left for him to teach his protégé, Tristan implored Calista to continue her studies in Frondale's Phrontistery under the instruction of its current guildmaster, Severian Lyctor. Believing alchemy would be a means to help serve her ambitions in the future, Calista embarks on her first journey to the desert capital of Ul'dah where little did she know her tale as the fabled Warrior of Light would begin to unfold.

Open extra box. My thought was to use to describe where they live - both the location & their actual home (a house, an apartment, out in the wildnerness). Or like... use for something else if you want.
